  1. His only minor league year over .300 was 2014. The rest of the time he was a .260 hitter. He'll have to prove he can hit at AAA before I see him being brought up to the big club this year for any substantial period of time. But he may get promoted because of injuries. .245 2 - 10 in 18 games. Later
  2. That top left picture looks like the pose he will assume when he appeals his ban. Won't work. He won't be playing in the USA this year (I'm not sure if the ban carries over to international summer leagues such as Mexico, Taiwan and Japan). Later
  3. 145 G, 285, 98 R, 8 HR, 45 RBI, 48 SB. Plays mostly at third. Out of court child care settlement. Later
  4. Starts out the closer, and when he begins to falter a bit, hands the role over to a returning Familia or an emerging Robles. (yes, Robles) When all is said and done, 75 G, 71 IP, 22 sv, 18 H, 2.28 ERA. Later
  5. Congrats! Later
  6. 6 nil bad guys in the 7th. 3 RBI by our old pal Matt Den Dekker. Later

  9. No lon capisco either. He may start on the DL (WBC hammy) then rehab at AAA. He might stay there until a move is made to free up an outfield roster spot. Or he might be immediately added to the major league roster so Conforto can continue to hone his card counting skills in Vegas. Either way, barring a trade I believe only one of them can have a major league job at one time. The team seems to need another lefty hitting outfield reserve like a person needs a third nostril. But he does play center field. A lot of variables here. So ... No lon capisco. Later
  10. Watched it during the storm yesterday. I saw it on regular TV with commercial interruptions, so it ran 3 hours. It does wheelies on the line between mystery and eerie(not quite horror). The story has a wraps-everything-up-neatly ending with an "oh crap" twist. I liked it. Later
  11. In 1954, a U.S. marshal investigates the disappearance of a murderess who escaped from a hospital for the criminally insane. It stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Kingsley, Mark Ruffalo and even has an appearance by my pal Max Von Sydow. It was directed by Martin Scorcese.
  12. If last year's hitting wasn't an outlier, he's a definite keeper. I am fairly confident he will hit. And he'll be showing it at AA this year, with a late call-up to AAA. Later

  14. My kid has been impressive this spring. Terry has spoken about that at length in several post game interviews. If Montero's control has, in fact, returned, he can be an asset in long relief and an occasional start. But he has competition for a 25 man roster spot. If he makes the big club out of ST, he'll go 5-4, 3.79 in 36 games. Or 11-7 4.54 in the PCL as a starter, then moved in a late-year deal. Later
  15. Waiting cautiously to see how he recovers from surgery. Maybe extended Spring Training leading to increasingly longer appearances in A+ before finishing the year at AA. Later

  17. Why the asterisk after Edgin's name? Later

  19. What Ed Kranepool really wants Manhasset, L.I.: I am Ed Kranepool’s nephrologist (kidney specialist). I saw him Wednesday at my office and spoke to him about the recent articles appearing in the news. He confirmed to me that he will not be selling his World Series ring for any reason related to his medical condition. At present time, it is considered unethical by UNOS (the United Network for Organ Sharing) for someone to trade valuable items for a kidney, or to pay money for a kidney. It is a very controversial issue, and certainly there are some countries that condone this practice. But not the United States. Mr. Kranepool is financially sound, and would not need to raise money to assist in any medically related endeavor. But even if he were not financially sound, he would not need to raise money to fund a kidney transplant. The costs would be covered by his insurance. I am not certain of how the topic of selling his ring was brought up to him, but it is important that we clear up any confusion here. He is, however, looking for an altruistic kidney donor. What can the donor expect in return? Mr. Kranepool’s sincerest gratitude. Nice to hear. But a Doctor revealing anything about a patient (including how the patient would pay for a procedure) without the patient's permission is a violation of HIPPA and could cost a doctor his license. I wonder If Ed knew this was being released. Later

  21. In the opening scene of the Alien Nation TV sci-fi series, a cop in the future drives past a movie theater. The marquee shows that the film playing is Rocky VI. Every time I watched that show, I chuckled over something so unimaginable. So, to avoid life imitating art so closely, (or maybe it was the reviews of Rocky Balboa?) I stopped at Rocky IV. Later
  22. Its about time to start a tradition of beating the Nats, not losing to them every freaking time. Later
