  3. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: What a jocky douche Bellinger is. I'm trying not be a get-off-my-lawn fan but if you're going to make a show of your series-winning home run the stand-still-at-the-plate-and-admire-it act, followed by a let-loose-the-excitement-with-a-shoulder-separating-jock-elbow-lovemaking-session-once-you've-completed-the-slow-trot is about 300% more douchier than the sky-high-bat-flip, or the Fisk-Carter manuever, or a hundred other ways I can think of, because its so calculated and gross. 5. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=48749 time=1603147579 user_id=68] An epic undertaking. It took me two days to read the whole thing. These guys have been killing it during this pandemic. I'm positive that Jason Fry set a world record for most paragraphs ever strung together in one piece on the Mets career of Shaun Fitzmaurice. If you haven't been reading their A Man For All Seasons series, you're missing a ton of great Mets stuff. Just don't bother trying to figure out or anticipate which Met they're gonna assign to what year. It's so counter-intuitive. Thanks for the stuff.

  12. I look at the Rays' roster and I'm still not sure I'd take theirs over the Mets. But they seem to do all the little things right when they have to be done. Later
  13. My pet peeve is something that has been happening on telecasts for ages. The batter steps in, takes a pitch. THEN the director calls for a close-up that also shows the player's name and stats - maybe this series, maybe what he has done in the game, maybe both. But it seems that lost in all the babble is that many times the announcers forget to tell us the batter's name until that close -up. With the center field camera(and we can't see the batter's name on the back of his uni), we may never know his name if the he hits the first pitch for an out. The announcers will usually just tell us the name of the fielder. And without a national MLB package, we may never have seen many (if any) games of this team before and would like to know who the f**k these guys are. Why can't they show us the graphics on the first pitch? I'll climb down off my soap box now. Later
  14. I don't know who I dislike more. LA - because, or Atlanta - for gagging on the opportunity to oust LA. Hmmmm, Nah. It will always be LA. Later
  15. From SNY: According to Ken Davidoff of The New York Post, Steve Cohen met virtually with the Ownership Committee about two weeks ago. His "ingratiation into the ownership fraternity has proceeded smoothly, according to multiple industry sources," Davidoff said. Once that committee signs off on the purchase, the Executive Council will do the same, followed by a team-by-team vote. The vote could occur as soon as a week after the conclusion of the World Series. Later
  16. He's an asshole. I would have trouble rooting for someone like that. I'd rather see Stroman come back, give you 80-90% potential of Bauer without all the tabloid garbage. I usually don't bother reading that stuff. What kind of assholery are you talking about? Later Looked it up. You're right. With all the reporters around the team (in normal years) it would be a circus. As Gorge Carlin would have said, he's a "wackaloon". Later

  18. Frayed Knot wrote: 'Bavk tightness" scratches Clayton Kershaw from today's scheduled start. The Dodgers hope he can pitch in either Game 3 or 4 Thereby delaying his annual playoff meltdown at least one more day. Later I was kinda' right, depending on your definition of meltdown. Later
  19. Would be a very good addition to the team. He's a strikeout pitcher, so I don't think the Mets' shoddy defense would hurt him much. But he might be concerned about the frustrating lack of run support after talking to DeGrom (and I think he would before signing here). Assuming Cohen won't spend an unlimited amount of money, I'd rather spend it on a catcher and centerfielder and then go after second tier starters. The team needs more than one to fill out the rotation. Later

  23. LA put up an 11 spot (NOT a misprint) in the top of the first. Atlanta has a steep road ahead of them in this one. Later
