  1. Is Peterson going to be a starter or a reliever? They're going to have to find a starter sooner or later to replace Max. If Buck keeps him in, it may be to stretch him out to start. If Buck pulls him, who knows? OE: That answered that question... for now. We still don't know. Later

  4. According to USA Sports, Scherzer waived his no-trade clause and the deal is on, pending a physical and agreement on financial terms between the teams. No players mentioned coming to the Mets. https://sports.yahoo.com/york-mets-reach-preliminary-agreement-232818171.htmlhttps://sports.yahoo.com/york-mets-reach-preliminary-agreement-232818171.html But according to the Ft. Worth Star Telegram, If Scherzer approves of the trade, the Rangers gave up one of their top prospects Jack Leiter and 2023 all-star catcher Jonah Heim who is currently on the 10-day disabled list. Nate Lavender, a 2021 draftee out of the U of Illinois has been pitching great for Syracuse and we may see him as soon as this year. Last night, the lefty struck out 5 in 2 2/3 IP. This year he's 3-2 2.57 with 57K in 35 IP. His WHIP is 1.14. Later
  6. IIRC, the PTBNL was implemented for two reasons: 1) If the player you received played well, you gave up a better player, and vice versa. 2) You couldn't trade a player while they were on the DL (now IL), so the name was released when the player returned from injury. But the true "loan" idea is interesting, sneaky enough that if this was football, Bill Belichick would ty it. The Chiti deal was a curiosity at the time and will forever be the answer to a trivia question. Later

  10. Blue collar old fashioned reliever. Didn't have dazzling stuff. Just got guys out. And that was all that we asked. Later

  14. No so much giving this particular player away as it gives the impression of the red flag inching up the flagpole for this season. His leaving lowers their chances for success unless they acquire (or find in the minors) a high leverage reliever of equal ability. Later
