  1. =kcmets post_id=135330 time=1692390921 user_id=53] I read somewhere that TDB has a nasty slider.
  2. According to SNY, Mark Vientos placed on the IL (wrist) on the 16th. I didn't see any other move to replace him. OE Almonte https://www.amazinavenue.com/2023/8/17/23836523/mets-mark-vientos-injury-wrist-il-almonte-walker-new-yorkhttps://www.amazinavenue.com/2023/8/17/23836523/mets-mark-vientos-injury-wrist-il-almonte-walker-new-york Later
  3. If its true, then he deserves full force of the law and he sure would be guilty of pissing away a potential Hall of Fame career and a shitpile of money. If she's just a gold digger, then shame on her. Later
  4. Yahoo Sports saying it will be Joey Luchesi 1-0 4.43 against Zack Thompson 2-4 3.96 Later
  5. Edgy MD wrote: José Quintana's first win as a Met. Trevor Gott's first save. And they were able to pin the loss on Adam F'n Wainwright. I had the fear the Cards would score enough to take him off the hook. Later
  6. Trevor Gott through a clean inning. Thanks, Ashie Later
  7. Alonso and Ralph are two of only four major leaguers who have hit 35 or more homers in four of their first five major league seasons. (I forget the other two -I saw it on Facebook a few days ago) Later
  8. Since the O's are taken and I don't like sloppy seconds (by now frantic fifths?) I'll revert to my long time admiration for the Twins, going back to the days of Carew, Killebrew, Allison and Oliva. The fact that they always seemed to gag against the MFYs tempered my enthusiasm for a while. But I still can root for them. Later
  9. Angel Hernandez' discrimination lawsuit against MLB has been rejected by the court. https://sports.yahoo.com/angel-hernandezs-lawsuit-accusing-mlb-of-racial-discrimination-rejected-in-federal-appeals-court-154840021.htmlhttps://sports.yahoo.com/angel-hernandezs-lawsuit-accusing-mlb-of-racial-discrimination-rejected-in-federal-appeals-court-154840021.html Later
  10. The Mets have recalled Jose Butto and optioned Tyson Miller. Later
  11. (I may sound like a Trump lawyer, but ... ) The only way I think it could happen would be if one team (ahem) "Finds" (ahem) something in a player's medical report and declares the original trade null and void. And the other team agrees. I don't know if MLB would let it happen under the current CBA or MLB rules but it would be an interesting test case. Later
  12. Named pitcher of the week in the Metsmerized weekly report. https://metsmerizedonline.com/mets-minors-weekly-report-vasil-almost-makes-history/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=mets-minors-weekly-report-vasil-almost-makes-history Later
  13. Here's my Leone-got-traded song. Does he deserve one? Eh? But here it is. Billy Eppler works for the baseball team Savin' his pennies for someday Dominic Leone left a note on the door He said "Gone to Cali, where it's sunny." Workin' for these Mets gives you A heart attack (ack, ack, ack, ack, ack) You oughta know by now (oughta know) Who needs to mop up that bullpen Is that what Steve gets for his money? It seems such a waste of time If that's what it's all about Mama if that's movin' up Then he's movin' out Nice job. Missed this the first time through this thread. Later

I may be conflating professional wrestlers with L'il Abner characters. I was never an expert on either. You're not. Both of them were real wrestlers. I saw them on tv way back when. Later

  16. =Cowtipper post_id=134940 time=1692060297 user_id=166] One of the unlikeliest home runs of the 2023 season just hit by Arauz. Wow!
  17. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Tyson here throwing some punches Nah. He's chicken. BA DA BUM! Later
  18. Frayed Knot wrote: Carrasco is going to be over 100 pitches by the 4th inning at this rate. If I had his stuff, I wouldn't want to throw it over the plate, either. Later
  19. Ozzie Albies is out with a "tweaked" hamstring problem. It must have been all that running around the bases he did against the Mets. Later
  20. Forget a quality start. Can Cookie pitch just one freaking clean inning? Please? Later
  21. (I can't find it but) I read a story a few weeks ago about how the new MLB shift rule has hurt McNeil more than any other batter. There were lots of scatter diagrams and stats to back that up. If we see he hasn't made adjustments by the end of the year, I don't think his current production warrants re-signing him. Later
  22. A new book by Marlins ex-owner Jeffrey Loria doesn't speak too highly on Derek Jeter and has interesting insights on the Miami market. https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/barry-jackson/article277284713.htmlhttps://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/barry-jackson/article277284713.html Later
  23. Buck has sat down Alvarez on recent nationally televised games. (IIRC its the last two or three in a row) If he's going to be considered for ROY, I would think he needs more national exposure. Let the announcers tell the country that he's leading all catchers in HR. Later
  24. When Billy Eppler gets to his office Monday morning, there should be crews from all the local NY news stations. Later
  25. I can't see any decent free agent starting pitcher looking at that run support and terrible defense and wanting to sign with the Mets. This will present a challenge to the front office. Later
