  1. That guy on the right reminds me of the old William B. Williams radio show, "Make Believe Ball-room". He's cowering like he doesn't have a pair. Later
  2. If he's breaking "house rules" (as specified on his ticket about interfering with balls in play, or something else) he might be charged with a low level misdemeanor such as criminal trespass. I dunno. If they want to charge him, they'll find something. OE: dumb birds of a feather: Austin Capobianco, the Connecticut native who was ejected from Game 4 of the World Series for prying a foul ball out of the glove of Los Angeles right fielder Mookie Betts made a lasting impression in college with a Super Bowl champion. Former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski told Kay Adams on FanDuel TV's Up & Adams Show that he and Capobianco were college friends, then gave some background to the New York Yankees fan. "He is a beauty and I just want to say congratulations for shining when your moment came," Gronkowski addressed to Capobianco on the show. Later
  3. https://x.com/JesseRogersESPN/status/1851662719176311041 Gee. If they start banning assholes from the game the place will be empty. Later
  4. Bleacher creatures, with the accent on creatures. Later
  5. At least the LA starter , who went to UCONN, didn't get the loss. The MFYs didn't waste their hitting on a game when Cole was starting. Later
  6. =metirish post_id=177796 time=1730239710 user_id=72] NBC 4 NY segment now from MFY stadium said the game tonight is not a sellout
  7. I expected Francisco Alvarez to perform much better than he did. Definitely a What went Wrong example. Later
  8. Reimer is 3 for 23 with 1 HR and 6 RBI. Later
  9. MFY fans have been saying for years that he plays like his head is firmly planted in his posterior. I'm not sure. He seems to me like the kid in high school who is very smart but doesn't think he has to study. They used to call them talented underachievers. Later
  10. Speaking of Announcers, I keep thinking one of the guys (not sure who) sounds like Bob Uecker. Later
  11. Buying standing room tickets for $1,000 is like smoking crack, really dumb. But smoking crack is against the law. Later
  12. I'm sure he'll play. Any decent power hitter would pull the I.V. out of his arm and roll off the gurney to play in that bandbox. Later
  13. I wonder if they're going to finally cut bait with Alex Ramirez. Later
  14. Edgy MD wrote: Stamina is certainly one characteristic that supposedly tracks you into the starter or relief role. Another is diversity of offerings. There are plenty of starters who made good with two pitches (Seaver [mostly], Ryan [totally], deGrom [mostly], and Glavine, among others), but when development staffs are sorting them out in the minors, if you have one or two effective pitches they typically send you to the bullpen, and if you have three or four, they tend let you start. This ^. Later
  15. MFY luck. I was looking forward to seeing Ohtani pepper the short porch in that bandbox. Later
  16. What ever happened to the pride of the (MF)Y pinstripes? The manager and coaches wearing black sweatshirts that say "World Series 2024" is really tacky. Are they ashamed of their uniform? Or do they want to hide their name out of embarrassment? (I just started watching and don't know if L.A. is doing the same. Either way, it sucks.) Later
  17. The first player to use that to challenge a swinging strike call was none other than out own Drew Gilbert. And he was upheld . Ain't technology grand? The only thing is this will do away with what have been some very funny umpire/manager/player arguments. Later
  18. I've temporally suspended calling him Freddie F'n Freeman. The sportscaster on WABC-NY this morning mentioned how he has hit the Mets in the past and then led into last night's grand slam. Later
  19. In case you were wondering which team top root ... against. Old, but classic: [media=youtube]-3J3_-czh6A[/media] Later
  20. If you're going to include Grote, how about Ron Hunt? He had hit .191 for a full season in the minors. And when a Mets reporter questioned him about it, Ron replied (I paraphrase), "How much would you hustle if you were in the Texas League? Later
  21. Vaya con dios, Fernando Later
  22. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=177297 time=1729618535 user_id=68] Jeff Reardon, too. And the Mets didn't draft Jesse Orosco, but they definitely developed him. Randy Myers was very effective for a few years. Tug McGraw?
  23. I wanted to split my vote because while Iglesias held the lineup together, Butto held the pitching staff together, first as a starter and then as a reliever. But I gave it to Iglesias because of his contributions both on and off the field. As for naming the dark horse award, I don't recall anyone coming out of obscurity, (well, the bullpen) and becoming the leading starter, being more deserving than Terry Leach. Later
  24. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/player/market-value/_/id/25959/juan-sotohttps://www.spotrac.com/mlb/player/market-value/_/id/25959/juan-soto Spotrac market value Interesting. But I think to get him, someone will have to crack the $40 million mark. He will get what someone is willing to pay him, unless his agent has some number in his head that someone would have to match and it may be beyond what the suitors want to pay. Later
