  1. I knew he was a high pick in a year where we had several high picks
  2. =Cowtipper post_id=157711 time=1717466237 user_id=166] Add Ottavino to the list of guys to trade.
  3. Yeah this is getting tiresome 🥱
  4. The interview was about Strawberry and no he didn't have much to say
  5. The notion that a pitcher would be hesitant to sign because the team's starters didn't assemble adequate wins is absurd. You know who else doesn't care about this stat? Player agents. You brought up the example of deGrom. Not only is there zero evidence of deterrence but in fact two of the most accomplished pitchers in the world signed here despite his example. That's because it doesn't happen.
  6. 5 bob bailout
  7. If you were listening to the radio you'd have gotten the froggy sounds of John Gibbons
  8. You said this made-up stat would "deter" a player from signing now you're making a completely different argument about players' feeeeeeelings
  9. The only numbers that matter to top flight starting pitchers are the ones Steve Cohen will give them. Wins are have always been the most irrelevant stat for pitchers anyway, other than to signal something about the team in big numbers as show by this thread. Why should Jacob DeGrom's W-L influence anything? He won a Cy Young without a lot of wins and most of the teammates that didn;t support him are long gone, as is deGrom.
  10. Dedniel Nunez also back, I'm excited about that
  11. =metirish post_id=157326 time=1717170508 user_id=72] Omar Narváez DFA'd , Mets get catcher Luis Torrens from MFY for cash , DiComo
  12. Lugo and Wheeler would be the beginning of a hell of a rotation
  13. I think its easy to get behind a guy who looks pissed off when the team loses as compared to the Glavines of the world whose ability to keep a calm demeanor and perspective in the face of misfortune turn them into pariahs. I for whatever reason left SNY on after the game and saw this all unfolding. There was no doubt in my mind that Lopez was acting as though he knew he could get fired and didn't give a shit. That this happened after a kum-bay-ah team meeting is pretty remarkable too.
  14. The place was loaded with Asian fans on Tuesday including a rowful right behind the Tuesday Night Mets Club that talked through the game. By the way I don't wanna revisit Tuesday night but if Ottavino leaves his feet and catches that popped-up bunt everything is different. No clubhouse meeting, Lopez still has a job, everything. I know lots of other things that coulda changed meant that too but here was a mistake by the opposition that turned into disaster for the Mets. He's gotta make the effort to catch that.
  15. Edgy MD wrote: I wonder if he might have saved a coach or two. Like they needed sacrificial lamb and just as they were lining someone up, he conveniently offered himself. Heff is getting long in the tooth--pre Cohen even. I think he's still vulnerable So we've had the punishment DFA and the GM addressed reporters this week and now a players only meeting. Mendy can now try the lineup-out-of-a-hat.
  16. Considering how ill-prepared they are to surrender relievers this whole thing was pretty remarkable. I was rooting for Lopez to be the bullpen dark horse this year. Now I'm moving onto Dedneil Nunez
  17. DFAed following his on-field meltdown and post-game remarks.
  18. Hoo boy, did he give a post-game interview. It's like he's trying to get fired.
