As I recall it McNeil was red hot until getting moved up to No. 3. That was about Marte turning into a singles hitter. I was thinking Baty is our No. 3 guy, at least will be.

Chris Bassitt (5-4, 3.80) goes against Verlander (2-2, 4.80) tonight as the Blue Jays come to town. They are said to have a fearsome offense but aren't doing any better than the Mets this year. In fact both clubs are 30-27.

Mets deal with the Cubs for RH RP Vinny Nittoli. He has had a sip of coffee with Seattle and the Phillies. Dicomo says he can be optioned, I guess that fills the Yacabonis role.

x-Met Taijuan Walker (4-2, 5.57) opposes Max Scherzer (4-2, 3.54) in a 1:10 pm start on a very nice day in NYC. I'll miss most of this of course.

Pretty calm night at the ballpark. Sat in right field completely out of sight of the gigantic scoreboard. Neighbors were well-behaved except for a doofus in an Aaron Judge jersey who was kicked out of our section for some infraction we didn't see. Castellanos made a good catch on Nimmo but maybe an even better job of cutting off Marte's hit an inning or two earlier. That happened right in front of us and it was impressive as that ball looked to be destined for the wall but he expertly backhanded it on a run. I've come to enjoy baseball for little displays of skill like this. I think Castellanos has a bad rep on D even, but he made 2 good plays. It wasn't good viewing on Senga but he definitely had the Phils Phlailing. We wondered why they didn't bring up Harper in the 8th with a chance to tie or in the 9th. Game over at 9:35, home shortly after 10.

I like the movie. In defense of the historic goofs, it wasn't made for baseball fans, as much as it as made for Brad Pitt fans who wouldn't know the difference.

Hey this is the first time I've started 2 threads in a row. Carlos Carrasco v. Aaron Nola (4-3, 4.59).

There's a lot of violent and over the top objection to Pride events, Bud Light getting slaughtered because of an Instagram post by a trans person, Target stores getting roughed up for having rainbow on clothing displays, people worried the gays are coming for their kids.
