  10. Colbert used to be the correct answer, so he must have been overtaken by…Manny Machado.
  11. I went to last night’s Syracuse Mets/Worcester Red Sox game. Vasil was pretty good but the two homers (both by former Brave Vaughn Grissom) were no-doubters.
  12. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Game 1 of the 2000 World Series. didn't even have to think about it This is correct. Mets win that series with a win in the game. There are two other games that if they went the other way, would also have resulted in Mets WS Championships: 2006 NLCS Game 7, and 2015 WS Game 1. But nothing would have been so righteous as a 2000 WS Championship.
  13. The 1916 Philadelphia Athletics went 36-117 (.235), the worst record ever in the modern ERA. “Besting” that winning percentage is certainly possible. In fact, I'm fine with the White Sox ending at 35-127.

You might do better watching the Apple TV broadcast and going to radio for the ESPN game. Apple is at least trying to deliver a good product (and Wayne Randazzo is pretty good). ESPN? Basically unwatchable. I'm attending that game rather than subjecting myself to their broadcast.
  15. Reyes DFAed and Alvarez called up. I don't think he is postseason-eligible, though.
  16. =metirish post_id=169218 time=1725820933 user_id=72] Curious to see where Jeff's Mets career goes from here

  18. Looked like Marte could have had that ball.

We definitely need a second DH (who can't hit)/sixth outfielder (who can't field) on the roster.
  20. Acuna is the only infielder on the 40-man in the minors…so, yes, it would most likely be him.
  21. There’s one huge problem with this analysis: the Mets need both players (and have needed both) to be successful this year. If you “replace” Alonso with Vientos, then there’s still a hole in the lineup to be “replaced.”
  22. Shildt will also likely be in the running. Mets need to make it in order for Mendoza to win.
  23. I'm quite sure Megill is being sent down for Blackburn. The only question is whether Megill starts one more game in Toronto or not. Senga is eligible to be activated 9/25. It would be a bold move to start him in Atlanta but I kind of like the opener idea.
  24. It occurs to me that the Mets could do a little roster arbitrage and have Megill start one game in Toronto, immediately get sent down, and have Blackburn start the next one. Gives everyone an extra day, and pushes Manaea to the Atlanta series.
  25. Top of the 9th, down 3 runs, two outs, 3-2 count, and the Tigers' #9 hitter Spencer Meadows hit a grand slam off Roberto Suarez to give the Tigers the 4-3 lead over the Padres. Mets pick up the half game on San Diego too.
