  2. I already took the Phillies the last time we did the assignments for 2007, so I'll just take them again.
  3. I'm curious if Schoenweis is getting the whole inning or not. This would seemingly be Heilman territory.
  4. New year, new 3rd base coach, same result...Jose Valentin getting thrown out at the plate. Seriously, is it just me, or does this happen a disproportionate amount of times with Valentin trying to score?
  5. Yancy Street Gang wrote: The St. Lucie roster included Mike Pelfrey. I don't know if it's a 2006 roster that hasn't been updated yet, or if they're parking him on that roster for the first couple of weeks. He is indeed parked in St. Lucie until he's needed for his first start in the bigs this year.
  6. ="Elster88"]="Gwreck"]I think the camera work was irrelevant to the Schaefer considerations. Oh you think so, Sherlock? You brought it up in the "Schaefer Commentary" thread, wiseass. No need for the attitude. Valentin's play (even if less technically impressive) was more important in determining the result of the game.
  7. Also in that New York Magazine article: Jay Horowitz taking the blame for the Dr. Jaerock Lee episode.
  8. ="Edgy DC"]I'm not showing anything confirming the Castro/Vargas roster transaction, but Adkins may have been removed. Oops, good catch. Yes, it was Adkins, not Vargas who is off the 40. The press notes differentiated that he was "outrighted" to AAA, while Pelfrey was "optioned."
  9. Yancy Street Gang wrote: Yeah, they botched the location. I'm not a resident, but am a frequent visitor to Philadelphia, and I don't get this. Sure, it's not downtown, but I wasn't under the impression that Philly was one of those cities (read: Detroit...Cleveland...et al.) that exactly needed a downtown revitalization. It's next to the two major interstates and it's easy to get to. There's plenty of parking. It's easily accessible from public transportation. Seems pretty good to me.
  10. I think the camera work was irrelevant to the Schaefer considerations. As was the throw, for that matter. One of those rare instances where I agreed with Morgan/Miller, that unless the throw got Eckstein it wasn't a good idea. Further, if you thought that was worthy of points, why wasn't Valentin's DP work (particularly in the 8th) worthy?
  11. Glavine 3.75 LoDuca 2.25 Delgado 2 Valentin 1 Green 1
  12. Nice game. In a rare moment of making a good point, putting in Wagner was probably ok with the off day tomorrow. Otherwise I probably would've gone with Burgos.
  13. Irony: Heilman avoided Y. Molina by getting that DP.
  14. seawolf17 wrote: Moises Alou, looking like a Gold Glover.Ehhh. Seemed like he wasn't trying all that hard when going after Eckstein's double. Or seriously underestimated how it would carom. Or both.
  15. Quick n dirty: Edmonds is playing but is still nursing injuries. Encarnacion is still out, Preston Wilson is starting in RF. Looper as a starter experiment worked real well in ST and he's going on Wednesday. Kip Wells on Tuesday, remains to be seen how that works out. Adam Wainwright (last year's closer) and Anthony Reyes (flattest cap bill ever) round out the rotation. Good bench with Taguchi, Spiezio, Chris Duncan (will likely play against righties) and new reserve OF Skip Schumacher. Adam Kennedy is the new second baseman.
  16. Pedro, Duaner, Padilla and Williams are all starting on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 23. Guillermo Mota is officially on the "restricted list." Source: Official press game notes. --- Also, it appears that Jason Vargas was removed from the 40-man roster and replaced with infielder Jose Castro. Source: Mets.com roster page.
  17. Scored last-minute opening day tickets. Way out in the outfield upper deck, but still. First time I've been since O.D. 2002.
  18. [Restarting the A-P thread that Dickshot started a while ago, but somehow fell off the main board] This link can't really be described. Just have to see it for yourself. http://www.projecta13.com/
  19. How exactly does one pitch 6.22 innings?

  22. 1. You spelled it wrong, there are two Gs. 2. You'd probably want to reconsider using that word. I believe it to be offensive, and I wouldn't be surprised if others agreed. 3. Being "politically correct" is ideology-neutral.
  23. Boom, decision made. Cut him NOW!!!
  24. To David's credit, there are a *lot* of good walk-up (remember, it's the first 10-20 seconds of the song that matter here, not the whole thing) songs on this list. I agree with David that "Fame" is probably the best of the choices here.
  25. Frayed Knot wrote: Presumably this means that Pelfrey will be on the 25-man from the beginning of the season w/o spending the first two weeks in N.O.I don't see anything in that article to support that presumption. Adam Rubin speculated on his blog earlier this week that Pelfrey would indeed start the year as a Zephyr with Milledge making the 25-man roster initially.
