    A proposal

I think it was more "enhanced" than it was completely conjured out of thin air. Like the writer had a vague idea of what he wanted to do but couldn't remember the details correctly when he was writing it five years after the events in the book took place. It wasn't a particularly good book, regardless of the truth value.
  2. In left field? Or at pitcher?
  3. I think we just need to put David Wright on the DL now to prevent future injuries.
  4. Does this injured player have a name?
  5. Where have we heard this before? Link to story[/url:21bkp4uc]
  6. My gameday just says "injury delay." Can you be more specific?
  7. Opposite field homer by Wright into the bullpens? Don't see that much these days.

Bruce Chen. Can't remember the other 2.
  9. Felt like a steel-toed kick to the groin to be there for this shit. Jerry = bullpen moron. Seriously, let's just let Dan or Randy or somebody else make the decisions about when pitchers come in. Jerry overusing the L/R and Tony sitting on his hands (the pitcher even batted 9th). Funny role reversal.
  10. In some ways I was relieved to see Schoeneweis not get in a game this series. Somehow my faith in the fans at the park is not such that I would expect the poor guy to be given the break he deserves.

    Uni Quiz

I got 19 live. Had no idea LWFS was there (I recall seeing JCL, G-Fafif and themetfairy) or I would've said hello.
  12. He's a regular umpire and has been for years. He worked the World Series last year.
  13. Guess this confirms Figueroa for tomorrow's start. I guess Misch goes but I wouldn't be sad if it it was Redding instead.
  14. Ok, thanks. Clearly just a gameday screwup.
  15. So...according to gameday, that play was scored 7-5-4, runner out at home. What happened?
  16. Plate discipline! He takes 4 pitches before the KABOOM. Nice, Jeff.
  17. 107 pitches to get through 3 good innings and two crappy ones. Somehow I am left wanting more from our "#2" starter.
  18. Seems to me that Augie had several big hits against us in '07 or '08 but I agree about the strategy. 81 pitches in 4 innings is really not very good from Pelfrey, results (only 1 run) notwithstanding.
  19. Reynolds' shot went 10 rows into the left field landing, on the staircase closest to centerfield.
  20. Hernandez actually has a higher batting average than Berroa. If you've really got to go to the PH there, at least use Reed or Sullivan, lefty-lefty be damned.
  21. ="Valadius":2uvfq6z8]Seriously, where are the Mets on Boston's glut of corner infielders?[/quote:2uvfq6z8] What do you suggest we offer them? Nymr83 Jul 31 2009 01:56 PM Kotchman is a gap hitter with a mediocre OBP, I wouldn't really want him. his career ops+ is 98, its 105 the last 3 years, the mets need to find a way to do better than that at first base. Valadius Jul 31 2009 01:57 PM Kotchman really isn't cut out for everyday duty, but I can see him as a Tony Clark kind of player. I don't know what we'd offer in return, though. metirish Jul 31 2009 01:59 PM ="Valadius":3f0i6m1v]Kotchman really isn't cut out for everyday duty, but I can see him as a Tony Clark kind of player. Frayed Knot Jul 31 2009 02:35 PM So LaRoche goes from Atlanta to Pittsburgh in 2007, and then from Pitt to Boston then back to Atlanta in the span of the last 3 weeks. He amassed all of 19 ABs w/Boston. Valadius Jul 31 2009 02:40 PM It's like Piazza with the Marlins. Nymr83 Jul 31 2009 03:11 PM ="Valadius":jimfpzg0]It's like Piazza with the Marlins.[/quote:jimfpzg0] not really, the Red Sox likely intended to keep him around until something better came along. 22. Funny story: At some game in June (I think it was vs. Tampa) there was this YLDB sitting in that exact row who was trying to antagonize the crowd, turning around to the section and pointing at his Alex Rodriguez jersey t-shirt, etc. I figured that this was the exact moment I'd been waiting for to test out the "fan assistance" hotline and sent them a text message about the guy pointing out that his language was "inappropriate." Two minutes later, there were no fewer than four security guys, plus a supervisor (must've been a slow night) telling this guy to keep his yap shut for the rest of the game or they were going to ask him to leave.
  23. What exactly would we be willing to give to the Red Sox? 2 sacks of baseballs? 3?
  24. Nice start by Johan. Game score of 76 is his best since May 6th against Philadelphia and his third-highest of the year.
