  1. Not exhaustive, not complete, but pretty impressive: Amazin' Avenue cites a lot of songs with Met lyrics here. http://www.amazinavenue.com/2016/5/2/11541410/list-mets-references-music-rap-songs
  2. “The Met Gala is all for charity, and I hope they raise enough money so Mr. Met can finally get the cranial surgery he so desperately needs.” —Stephen Colbert, The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, May 3, 2016
  3. Question regarding 1968- and 1969-style Heritage: will Jose Altuve, Dallas Keuchel and others on that team (assuming they're still on that team) be known as members of the ASTROS or simply HOUSTON?
  4. Topps Heritage, at least 1967 (the one I'd been waiting on since the concept was introduced), is weirdest when it's a player on a team that didn't exist in the year in question. ANGELS looks right, for example. BLUE JAYS doesn't. A friend suggested perhaps teams that didn't exist in the years that are being replicated should have simply been left out until they were born. Probably wouldn't have gone over, but that's pretty damn authentic.
  5. Word out of SFG beat circles is July 21 is the targeted makeup date should one be needed.
  6. Centerfield wrote: It's too bad that it was a 45 degree night in April versus a jammed house in July. What are you talking about? Last night was New Year's Rockin' Eve! Almost a full house, actually, for the first Friday night home game of the season. Lotta Giant fans, however, disappeared after the third for some reason.
  7. Their pitching staff has problems with third innings.
  8. Oscar to throw out first pitch at Citi Field, a lifelong dream. He'll be throwing it to his buddy Marcus Murphy or Murph, a former Met, 6X All Star, 8 Gold Gloves. In his living room, Oscar and dad (Walter, played by Garry Marshall) watch Matt Harvey pitch vs. Marlins. He's really throwing smoke, according to Oscar. Howie Rose is doing TV PBP. Dad says he thinks he saw Harvey once at a Denny's, maybe a Red Lobster. In attempt to impress his dad, Oscar tries too hard with first pitch and hits Mr. Met in the head. Becomes object of ridicule. Has to come back to Met clubhouse and apologize. Mr. Met wears a bandage on his head. Oscar wears 4, Murph 11 (real Mets jerseys) for first pitch. Also, Walter says the pitch got Mr. Met right in the ball and he (Walter) wears a very old Mets cap.
  9. Yoenis Cespedes has moved into a four-way tie for 15th place on Citi Field's Met regular-season home run chart, joining bats with Anthony Recker, Marlon Byrd and Jordany Valdespin with seven. Michael Conforto sits in 22nd regular-season place, alongside Juan Lagares, Justin Turner, Rod Barajas and Gary Sheffield, all of whom have five. Neil Walker, with one dinger, has become the 68th Met with at least that many HRs at Citi Field and is the 21st with precisely that many.
  10. IWdBOsk8D7A • Faith and Fear in Flushing endures uncooperative scanners, frigid winds, a Hamilton who temporarily steals the show, Yalta-length mound conferences and a paucity of expectations, yet comes away from Citi Field humming the scenery.
  11. Such a great game. Who knew? I didn't.
  12. Rivera will wear No. 44, made famous by John Buck, catcherwise.
  13. The otherwise unwatchable Odd Couple reboot promises to be Met-heavy this Thursday at 8:30 on CBS.
  14. Just read the KTE... WHEE!
  15. [youtube:1vfq93e7]q24Tt9CmJEk[/youtube:1vfq93e7] Travis d'Arnaud's shoulder sends him to the DL. Rene Rivera up from Vegas to backup No. 1 catcher Plawecki.
  16. You are now leaving Metlanta.

  19. Saturday is Matzurday, to be sure, but today's date, for IGT title purposes (and all others, I suppose), is 04/23.
