  1. Tribe visit, first to the sunny side of NYC since 2004, will make Mariners only AL team to have not dropped by Citi Field. They were last in Queens in 2008.

  3. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Think they'd trade Bryce Harper for Steven Matz? The Nats did reportedly try to work a trade for Harper (though maybe not that one), but nothing came of it and he can finish his current contract in Washington.
  4. Nats also let Matt Adams go to Cards on waivers.
  5. Doc Edwards, bench and catching coach for the 1990 and 1991 Mets, has passed away at 81. Bud Harrelson was said to lean heavily on his advice (which didn't necessarily meet with the approval of a skeptical clubhouse). Managed the Indians the three seasons prior. Caught for four seasons.
  6. Wheeler enjoys "shoving it" against the team that traded him, he has said. Probably frustrated to give up anything to them, especially when it was the shift that did him in. Then again, perhaps the shift has saved him a base hit here or there this season.
  7. Horrible loss. But a great band.
  8. Mets give the finger to the DL -- Brandon Nimmo's bruised index finger. BIG D, the 26th man from Williamsport, sticks around in his stead.
  9. Bowman Field joins Target Field as the only venues in which the Mets have posted a 1.000 winning percentage.

I thought you might have had it listed within the ballparks section since you include postseason games for final appearances where applicable (Kevin Mitchell, for example).

  16. Tim Kurkjian yammered incoherently during Monday night's ESPN telecast that Max Scherzer deserves the Cy Young edge over Jacob deGrom because of his won-lost record. And this afternoon, Phillies announcer (and unmissed erstwhile Met voice) Tom McCarthy suggested deGrom should place third, behind Scherzer and Aaron Nola, because of ye olde pitcher wins. This is gonna be a tough mindset to overcome.

  19. Truly a Jake kind of year. He stands out on his cards as he stands out on the field. In the non-deGrominational categories, what a beautiful '77 for Nimmo. The headers at the bottom should say July where they say June. For posterity's (or posterior's) sake. Marvelous as always, Mr. Grimm.

  23. Chronic voters are ready to cast ballots when Schaefer HQ is prepared to register them.
  24. Whereas Wilmer Flores is the cleanup hitter in the Mets' lineup, Christianity has Jesus H. Christ batting fourth. Granted, we understand Christianity's been around more than 2,000 years and the Mets fewer than 60, yet the difference between Wilmer Flores as your cleanup hitter and the Son of God speaks volumes about the distance between these two franchises. Of course they're both folk heroes to their respective fan bases.
