  1. Outfielder Gary Kolb, a Met for forty games in 1965, died on July 3 in Charleston, W.Va., at the age of 79. His greatest legacy -- beyond his one home run and one appearance at third base -- was his inclusion in the trade that brought 1969 world champ Don Cardwell to New York following the 1966 season, a campaign the entirety of which he spent in Jacksonville alongside the likes of Seaver, Harrelson, Boswell and two McGraws.
  2. I'm down to the caveat that anything is possible, stranger things have happened, yada cubed. Tonight, Game 88 — another deGrom outing wasted, another bullpen implosion, the blown call at the plate that couldn't be reviewed because Mickey used his challenge on a Quixotic quest five innings earlier — sealed 99.99% what I've been no less than ~98% certain of since early May. The last two percent are always the toughest to admit.
  3. Before Steven Matz's relief debut, his 87 Met appearances as a starter w/o relieving stood as seventh-most in franchise history. Top six: Leiter 213 Gl@v!ne 164 Trachsel 160 deGrom 157 Wheeler 113 Santana 109
  4. To be fair, America isn't crazy about Jeff Wilpon.
  5. 29TH HR: Hundley 1996: Mets Game 104 Beltran 2006: Mets Game 103 Alonso 2019: Mets Game 88 Kingman 1976: Mets Game 87
  6. Dilson decided he'd rather live in the Syracuse Mets' world than live without us in somebody else's. (He's re-signed a minor league deal with us after getting only minor league offers from others.)
  7. Hopefully you'll visit the HOF/Museum while Felix Milan and Jack Fisher are there signing autographs.
  8. Tonight's featured alumni at Citi Field: Jack Fisher and Felix Millan. They could've sat on their 1969 laurels, but they keep the beloved Mets of yore comin'. Other than killing Gosger and Hudson, nice job, Metsies.
  9. All Star Jeff McNeil LF All Star Pete Alonso 1B Former All Star Robinson Cano 2B Former All Star Michael Conforto CF Former All Star Todd Frazier Potential Future All Star Dom Smith LF Former All Star Wilson Ramos C Potential Future All Star Amed Rosario SS All Star Jacob deGrom P NOT PICTURED: deGrom's personal catcher Tomas Nido, perhaps so that Ramos doesn't feel the All Star pitchers don't like him.
  10. Pete was just reporting what he saw and neither endorsed nor condemned the reaction to Van Wagenen, whatever it was.
  11. TC brought his coaching staff with him to 2016 ASG, including Dick Scott (23), Dan Warthen (38), Pat Roessler (6) and Tim Teufel (11). Not quite the same thing an All-Star selection the way we think of one, but the numbers did appear on Mets unis at the ball.
  12. Pete McCarthy, much-missed radio pregame host, said on the Metrospective podcast that he sat with T7L on Tuesday night and there was no “Brodie, Brodie” chant. At most, a couple of fans called out to him. It's almost as if what the Post reports needs to be taken with a grain of salt.
  13. Brewers have purchased the contract of Santana tradebait Deolis Guerra.
  14. Cross Shea Bridge.
  15. MFYs in St. Pete screwed everything up. Six teams off today. Surprised MLB didn't get them together for a round-robin exhibition. Not really, but they are missed.
  16. I believe it was an annual event, which is to say at least twice. Finch.
  17. What a dreary game, but the transatlantic travel was bound to catch up to the Mets.
  18. =kcmets post_id=15043 time=1562207681 user_id=53] The '69 thing is over, Yanks thing done. Let's have a 3 o'clock press conference Friday afternoon and put this horse out of it's misery.
  19. Cleared waivers, back to Syracuse.
  20. Opts for free agency.
  21. =41Forever post_id=15011 time=1562197254 user_id=69] O'Neil kaboom!!!
  22. Jeff McNeil – RF Pete Alonso – 1B Robinson Canó – 2B Michael Conforto – CF Todd Frazier – 3B Dominic Smith – LF Wilson Ramos – C Amed Rosario – SS Jason Vargas – LHP
  23. Edwin Diaz has saved consecutive games — Mets games 85 & 86 — for the first time since the first two games of the season.
  24. Pete Alonso is your NL Rookie of the Month for June.
  25. Some great merchandise, particularly the historical flair. Darren Meenan has paid more homage to the Mets Polo Grounds roots via t-shirts than the franchise has in any form these past forty years. The gross calendar is on hiatus. Their crowd, based on my one evening out in center with them a couple of years ago, is 90-95% cool, with a touch of idiocy thrown in...though since it was directed at MFY fans, I couldn't fully condemn it. A greater middle-aged element than you'd suspect. There's a little too much "now is the time on Sprockets when we cheer" for my tastes, but I admire their enthusiasm and commitment from a distance. It's Mets fans rooting for the Mets while wearing orange. I don't know why they're supposed to pay their way into a game and then get angry. As for Brodie's visit, starstruckedness will happen.
