  1. Tomas Nido and Tyler Bashlor resonate with unimpressiveness in these games, and they're all wins.
  2. It will survive.
  3. Then buy them for Ms. Gaynor.
  4. “Of the fifteen New York Met games she's attended, the Mets have won all fifteen.” —Casey Kasem, introducing Gloria Gaynor's “I Will Surive” as the No. 1 song on American Top 40, March 17, 1979. Casey had been telling a story of how Gaynor's South American tour crossed paths with that of New York Cosmos, and how her hastily arranged pregame concert may have helped the Cosmos break their winless streak (the Cosmos resented the idea they needed an opening act, let alone the kind of luck Gloria claimed to bring her teams).
  5. Guessing “Murder” was in the can before the Buccos descended on Bradenton. I never saw the movie, but I remember deciding Oakland-Houston sounded otherworldly as a World Series matchup, with the A's having peaked (and been recently ravaged by a free agent exodus) and the Astros so stubbornly mediocre.
  6. I don't think those Buc threads debuted until after “Murder” aired. Pittsburgh should have called winners for the sequel.
  7. It was the inadvertent death knell for black & white TV sales.
  8. Filmed at the Astrodome, but advertised with Shea. https://twitter.com/retronewsnow/status/1241208759394996229?s=21https://twitter.com/retronewsnow/status/1241208759394996229?s=21
  9. Exchange from The Outsider , “Dark Uncle,” Episode 3, January 19 (HBO); while a Cubs game is on at a bar: ALEC PELLEY: The first game my Dad ever took me to was at Wrigley. 1985, Cubbies-Mets, must've been towards the end of the season somewhere. After all these years, who can remember the date? HOLLY GIBNEY: Did they win or lose? ALEC: Cubbies lost. HOLLY: September 26. ALEC: September 26. I wish I could remember who was pitching. HOLLY: Johhny Abrego started for the Cubs, but was knocked out in the fourth. He was relieved by Ron Meridith, Steve Engel and Jay Baller. Dwight Gooden, on the other hand, threw a complete game shutout for the Mets.
  10. Jason Pridie's beard was the de facto co-star of http://www.faithandfearinflushing.com/2011/06/05/hairs-the-thing/this FAFIF post from 2011.
  11. Jason Pride?
  12. SNY seems to be running every 2019 Mets victory in order. Wise programming choice. We're concluding the early-season sweep of the Marlins in Miami. When deGrom homers and Alonso and Smith emote, Keith gently admonishes “the veterans” to set a calmer tone for the excitable youngsters. Man, did he read the room wrong.
  13. Hobie Landrith is picked fifth in the Living Mets Nonagenarian Draft, joining Messrs. Hillman, Pignatano, Thomas and Craig in the 90-and-up club.
  14. Countdown to Opening Day suspended.
  15. Ted Cox, 65. Came out of the gate like Mike Vail for the 1977 Red Sox. Part of the trade that brought Dennis Eckersley to Boston from Cleveland the following year.
  16. “At least two weeks” of regular season.
  17. Jeff Passan: ST suspending, regular season opening delayed.
  18. Goodbye baseball -- literally.
  19. Heyman reports Grapefruit League "expected to be suspended".
  20. I miss being concerned with the status of Michael Conforto's oblique.
  21. http://www.faithandfearinflushing.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/we-won-today.jpg> Cardinals 3 Mets 7 Jake was Jake.
  22. David Peterson and Pedro Payano reassigned to minor league camp, Corey Oswalt optioned there.
  23. Right oblique strain for Conforto.
  24. http://www.faithandfearinflushing.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/we-won-today.jpg> Mets 7 Astros 4
