  1. Stephen Tarpley AAArives here.
  2. Mets say: LHP Jerry Blevins, RHP Jerad Eickhoff, catcher Caleb Joseph, infielder José Peraza, outfielder Mallex Smith and RHP Arodys Vizcaíno have been notified that they will not be on the Opening Day roster. Additionally, LHP Stephen Tarpley has been optioned to the Triple-A roster.
  3. Jerry Blevins's scoreless ninth would be a poetic exit stage left, but I imagine he'd prefer to make the team if he's come this far.
  4. Ed Coleman teaming with pre-pregame guy Brad Heller on the radio, emphasizing this doesn't count.
  5. Steve wants our advice, presuming he has our consent.
  6. A few thoughts http://www.faithandfearinflushing.com/2021/03/25/certain-mets/here.
  7. From his sister: https://www.facebook.com/1775430424/posts/10208985480872313/https://www.facebook.com/1775430424/posts/10208985480872313/ My brother Randy passed away today from Covid complications. This picture brings so much joyful memories to my heart. We traveled to watch him play ball back in the day. Will always treasure those days. He was the kind hearted brother everyone wanted. I will miss him everyday. I'm sure mom and dad will be happy to see you in heaven😘 Please keep our family in your prayer. His wife Evelyn has Covid she needs lots of prayers. His daughter Tracie has lost a brother, brother-in Law and dad within the last year. It's been such a heart breaking time for her. Please keep her in your prayers.
  8. Just learned Randy Tate passed away today (March 25) at 68 from Covid complications. Due respect to Jacob deGrom, but Randy Tate will always be No. 48 to me.

I just lurked on this kwiz, but I would have bet good money that you were talking about Juan Samuel here. That was my first instinct but coming over in mid-June meant playing 100 games in center was unlikely.
  10. Gio Gonzalez is gonzo, announcing his retirement today. I saw him one-hit the Mets in September 2013, when it felt as if the Mets would never climb out of their hole. Gio had a way of shoveling dirt on them. http://www.faithandfearinflushing.com/2013/09/10/one-is-the-metsiest-number/http://www.faithandfearinflushing.com/2013/09/10/one-is-the-metsiest-number/
  11. Andrés Torres 21
  12. Del Unser 15
  13. Former AL president and MFY reserve Bobby Brown, 96.
  14. Tommy again is a lonely Hunter, released today.
  15. Dave Schneck started 12 of the 17 final (pressure-packed) games in 1973 in center, platooning with Hahn, but no postseason action awaited the September callup.
  16. Good for Matt.
  17. Defensively, Maxwell was good to the last drop.
  18. We optioned Yamamoto...and reassigned Oswalt, Drury and Maxwell.
  19. The new seats came in 1980. The walls got painted blue in the second half.
  20. Cliff Floyd
  21. Darryl Strawberry (quiz).
