  8. The Cardinals won their 84th game (not in a row, only seems like it), so the 79-win Mets won't be Wild in 2021.

  11. =Fman99 post_id=78453 time=1632420778 user_id=86] =TransMonk post_id=78421 time=1632402215 user_id=71] Headed to Milwaukee on Friday and Saturday. It look like I'll have a pretty good chance of seeing the Brewers clinch the NL Central.
  12. Pete ties Carlos Delgado for 14th on the all-time Mets HR list with his 104th.
  13. In the spirit of the thread's namesake… Leading off for the visiting New York Mets is the swift center fielder, Brandon Nimmo. Brandon is always such a happy young man. Batting second, at first base, is the man they call the Polar Bear, Pete Alonso. Pete delivered a laser of a home run to left field last night, way over the Green Monster, his 34th of the year. Pete has such impressive power. Batting third is the shortstop, Francisco Lindor. Francisco has really turned it on in the second half. The cleanup hitter, at second base, is Javy Baez. I have to tell you, there may not be a more all-around entertaining player in all of the big leagues. J.D. Davis batting fifth as the designated hitter. You know manager Luis Rojas is delighted to have an extra bat in his lineup in the American League park, particularly one as potent as J.D.'s. Playing third base and batting sixth is Jonathan Villar. Jonathan has been such a big surprise for the Mets this year, one of the best unheralded pickups made by Sandy Anderson's front office in the offseason. Batting seventh and in left field tonight is Jeff McNeil. You have to love this young man's versatility. Around in right is the number-eight hitter for manager Luis Rojas, the veteran Kevin Pillar, playing tonight in place of Michael Conforto. Luis is always looking for an edge, and against the tough lefthander Chris Sale, Kevin can really get it done. And batting ninth is the catcher, James McCann. The pitchers just rave about James' game-calling skills. Tonight, the native Californian — he has such a beautiful family — will put those abilities to good use catching starting pitcher Taijuan Walker. The big righthander represented the Mets in Denver this summer at the All-Star Game, though has had some trouble getting untracked in the second half, but has lately looked very sharp. For the Boston Red Sox, managed by old friend Alex Cora…
  14. Mayor Bill de Blasio: Good morning, everybody, and welcome to Queens. We're here at Queens Borough Hall. We're kicking off City Hall in your borough all week long in Queens. A lot of great stuff that was going to happen here this week to support the people of Queens, and we know after this incredibly tough year-and-a-half Queens was hit really, really hard by the pandemic. We also know the residents of Queens led the comeback and are leading the comeback with extraordinary strength and resiliency. This week, we'll be talking about all the next steps in our recovery, new announcements that are crucial to the future of Queens, and you'll see the spirit and the energy of the people at Queens that are helping the city move forward. No one epitomizes that more than the Borough President of Queens, and I know he's excited about this week and I'm excited to share it with them, my pleasure to introduce Queens Borough President Donovan Richards. Queens Borough President Donavan Richards: Thank you, Mr. Mayor. And first before we begin, I brought you a little mascot, New York Mets. We hope to continue to try to convert you. Mayor: Yeah, this is cool. This could do it right there. http://www.faithandfearinflushing.com/wp-content/uploads/AB9EA2AB-643A-4DD2-A5D5-B280C429B32F.jpeg> http://www.faithandfearinflushing.com/wp-content/uploads/71BF61C0-5063-4FA0-AB51-3D303D46983C.jpeg> https://www1.nyc.gov/office-of-the-mayor/news/631-21/transcript-mayor-de-blasio-holds-media-availability#/0https://www1.nyc.gov/office-of-the-mayor/news/631-21/transcript-mayor-de-blasio-holds-media-availability#/0
  15. The ballclub at whose microphone Bob Murphy grew into a legend visits the ballclub at whose microphone Bob Murphy got started. Sometime after seven until sometime near eleven, on the Snigh. Taijuan Walker will look to throw the ball well for the Mets. Chris Sale will take a scissors and disconnected the yellow and blue of the Red Sox.
  16. I don't hate these not red Sox uniforms. There, I said it.
  17. =bmfc1 post_id=78318 time=1632267051 user_id=73] I understand the unis and the message... but if you're going to have interleague play, which creates the opportunities for fans to see different teams, then the interleague opponent should wear their normal uniforms.
  18. John Franco hosted an annual charity bowling tournament in his day. Was said to roll well.
