  1. Right. Next year's rotation right now is Scherzer, Carrasco (I assume with all the other question marks the Mets will definitely pick this option up as they need to decide before the others are likely to agree to terms), Megill, Peterson, and Williams. Yikes. If ANY of deGrom/Bassitt/Walker don't come back, there is room for a Syndergaard type as the 5th guy with Megill and Peterson still having options or bullpen potential. While I'd hope the Mets bring back all 3, even with Cohen's wallet there could be other factors - an injury between now and then, a team wiling to give deGrom an absurd number of years more so than money, or simply a desire by one of them to be somewhere else.
  2. fuck the ghost runner. the top of the 10th wasnt even baseball. disgraceful that a team can win a game in an inning with No hits, No Walks, No Errors.
  3. I would be awfully tempted to put deGrom on second base right now for Vogelbach. even if you told him "you are not allowed to slide" he is still faster to the plate on a single.
  4. =Ceetar post_id=103552 time=1660341096 user_id=102] his fastball velocity is still down, and isn't making a recovery right now, though interesting to see if it does after another rest period of an offseason.

He had the equivalent of 2/3 of a full season's worth of plate appearances spread out across the 2019-2020 seasons, and those 400 PAs have been the only time in 6 seasons and 1400 PA that he has been good. I'm not saying I saw it, but I sure wish the Mets had seen it and extracted maximum trade value while he still had some, given that the BEST CASE scenario for him was that he'd be a subpar leftfielder who could hit or an average DH if the NL adopted one.
  6. =roger_that post_id=103445 time=1660247237 user_id=128] There's something a bit wild about the low expectations. I mean, overall we've been over .650, we're hot as hell, we're healthy for the first time all year, we've got our two aces back pitching lights out, but we're steeling ourselves against a mild collapse for the most part. I get the reasoning, but it still seems odd to me.
  7. =Ceetar post_id=103548 time=1660340675 user_id=102] He had some ups and downs in his recovery this year that probably wouldn't have gone over well, though winning certainly would've made it easier. Also the Angels pitched him a good plan, $3 million more, and the Mets were still trying to find someone to work for them, ignored him. Ended up working out okay, but I wouldn't mind having Thor back next year.
  8. Why should Thor have regrets? he got his money and still has his money. He even went from California to Pennsylvania mid season, which is probably a HUGE tax break as PA has a flat percentage tax without brackets.
  9. Nice to see the Mets "taking out the trash" here and not suffering a let down after the excitement of the Atlanta series

  11. Hey Strider: SHUT-UP ROOK!
  12. even their fans left Queens on a stretcher! [TWEET] [/TWEET]
  13. Vogelbach running the bases is great
  14. The silver lining tonight is that with a double header tomorrow the Mets battled back and used Williams, Rodriguez, Hunter, and Givens. You won't miss those guys in a close game tomorrow. Diaz, Ottovino, May, Lugo did not pitch. The Braves had to use Minter, Iglesias, and Jansen (and Lee and McHugh) to hold the lead. Matzek and Stephens didn't pitch. (and Strider if he isnt starting this series?) I'd call that a moral victory when down 8-0 at least.
  15. Jansen's delivery feels like a balk
  16. =nymr83 post_id=102599 time=1659753451 user_id=54] Shit. big homerun by Contreras means they probably don't use Jansen to start the 9th and therefore have him more available tomorrow

  18. Nido just told me to STFU
  19. =nymr83 post_id=102563 time=1659749108 user_id=54] Darin Ruf joining Vogelbauch and Naquin in making sportswriters and fans everywhere look foolish for bashing the Mets trade deadline approach.

  22. 28!
  23. WOW WHAT A GIFT OUT!
  24. I'll take the W and just hope Givens got can treat that inning as a big fat enema getting all the shit out of his game for the rest of his tenure here
  25. It works both ways, you can not shut up and be good too. Gary's call of the Bartolo homerun enhances rather than detracts from it for example.
