  1. Yeah! At this point I'm more concerned about him departing through free agency than through a trade. I want Jose to finish the 2011 season as a Met. And I want him to be back with the club for 2012 spring training, with a fresh new bright-and-shiny contract.

  3. Put him in a girdle for six weeks then reevaluate.
  4. They should keep delaying it until Ike Davis is healthy again.

  7. I saw that in the Daily News this morning and was wondering if he was undercover, or if the Suffolk County police force have adopted Mets road jerseys as their official uniforms. Either way... good choice! And, not insignificantly, I'm glad they nailed that creep.
  8. Voting for Tuesday night's loss to Oakland at Citi Field will close on Friday morning. Only seven people have voted so far; if you still have something to say about this game, please try to get your submission in some time today. Schaefer POTG 6/21/11 - Athletics 7, Mets 3

I guess they don't enforce the Ten Commandments at Citi Field? * *This is a reference, for those who may have missed it, to an ugly incident from last week in which a Target Field usher scolded a lesbian couple at the game.

  11. Delgado's best weeks in 2008: July 26, 9.90; September 13, 8.56. His best week ever: August 26, 2006, 10.85.
  12. Well... I haven't seen his birth certificate, so I have to assume he was born in Kenya.
  13. The record for most Schaefer points in a week? (Weeks run from Sunday through Saturday.) 12.74, by David Wright, June 24, 2006. Wright is the only player to ever top 12 points in a week, and he's done it twice. (The other time was with 12.40 for the week ending September 2, 2006.) Justin Turner has the third-best total, with 11.77 for the week ending May 21, 2011. Carlos Beltran had an 11.21 for August 25, 2007. The fifth best week ever is good ol' Alay Soler, 10.94 points, June 10, 2006.
  14. The Schaefer Mets Player of the Week for the week ending June 18, 2011 is Mike Pelfrey with 8.73 points.
  15. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr awarded 10.1 points, and his votes were prorated as follows: pelfrey 5.15 beltran 2.28 reyes 0.99 bay 0.59 pagan 0.59 turner 0.4
  16. Well, right now I'm hoping that the Mets sign Jose during the "Piazza Period" between the last game of the season and the day that everyone is free to negotiate with all players. That's what I'm hoping.
  17. That's how I see it too. The agent talks to the club, and he either comes to Jose and says "We have a deal" or he doesn't?
  18. Ooooooh, SNAP! I'm not rooting for this, but wouldn't it be something if he pulled a hammy tonight and missed the next seven weeks? Would that be irony? (I'm not quite sure.)
  19. Muno, Taijeron, and Seng have already appeared in Mets minor league games.
  20. Could it be something about Ike's work ethic during rehab? I'd be surprised if that were the case, but who knows?
