  1. Farmer Ted wrote: Never saw the Brewers as a player for K-Rod. I hope JP has a good time in Helena checking out the talent pool. It's possible that one or both players have already been determined, but the Brewers want to hang on to them for the rest of the season, either because they don't want to leave one of their farm teams short, or because they want depth for the remainder of the playoff race.
  2. I wouldn't be at all surprised if ultimately, neither of the PTBNL's ever played a big league game for the Mets.
  3. soupcan wrote: Doesn't matter to me. Give 'em all a shot and see who sticks. I voted Parnell, but I agree with soupcan.
  4. Made it to 7th place on the all-time Mets saves list, and a few more games could have gotten him to 5th: 1. John Franco 276 2. Armando Benitez 160 3. Jesse Orosco 107 4. Billy Wagner 101 5. Tug McGraw 85 6. Roger McDowell 84 7. Francisco Rodriguez 83 8. Neil Allen 69 9. Skip Lockwood 65 10. Braden Looper 57 At the time of the trade, he had the most Schaefer votes among Mets relievers, 3.10 points ahead of Pedro Beato.
  5. Interesting! So who's the closer now? Parnell? Or is it a "bullpen by committee"? (I hope it is.) I wonder when we find out who the two players to be named are. Will it be during the season, or after? Or might they not even bother? (That's happened before, I think.)
  6. My gut feeling is that it's probably better to have the Dykstra who's not related to Lenny.
  7. I would have said, of course Jeter can have the ball! He just has to put in the highest bid!
  8. They use the DH in NL parks?
  9. Going into the season, Carlos seemed certain to be an ex-Met by 2012. Now, I'm not so sure. It's probably still the more likely outcome, but I can see the possibility of him returning.
  10. Voting for the final two games played in Los Angeles will close on Tuesday morning. Thursday's loss is particularly light on votes. If you have any votes to cast, please try to get them in today. Schaefer POTG 7/6/11 - Mets 5, Dodgers 3 Schaefer PotG, 7/7/2011, Dodgers 6, Mets 0
  11. I voted for the middle option. My overall interest isn't what it used to be*, otherwise I'd probably have voted for the first choice. *That's more of a reflection on me than on the Mets. The 2011 team is certainly an appealing one.
  12. Turner 3.5 Pelfrey 2.5 Evans 1.5
  13. Beltran 1 Byrdak 0.5 Capuano 2.5 Murphy 1
  14. Beato 0.5 Beltran 1.5 Dickey 3.5 Evans 0.5 Hairston 1.5 Murphy 1 Pagan 1.5
  15. For MVP I'd make an icon using the letters. For Rookie of the Year... how about Jon Matlack's forehead?
  16. I kinda like that idea. I'd prefer it if they came up with an icon for the Rookie of the Year, instead of the initials. (Have there been any rookies of the year named Roy, I wonder?)
  17. The black cap never looked so good.
  18. Yes, they were.
  19. The Schaefer Mets Player of the Week for the week ending July 2, 2011 is Jose Reyes with 7.95 points.
  20. I do like the idea of the little stars on the uniforms, but not on the caps. When they put stuff on the caps it always looks awful. I'm thinking of the Citi Field patch from 2009 and the World Series logos. (Do they still do that?)
  21. I can't count how many times day-to-day has turned into week-to-week. Ike Davis and David Wright started out day-to-day too, as I recall.
