  1. Who? Pujols or Hatcher?
  2. Justin Turner... June 2011?
  3. Mike Baxter's total of 0.02 points averaged down to zero, so he does not appear in the results.
  4. Voting for all three games played in Denver over the past weekend will close on Wednesday morning Look for the announcement of the April Schaefer winners on Thursday. Schaefer POTG, 4/27/2012: Rockies 18 Mets 9 Schaefer PotG, 4/28/2012, Mets 7, Rockies 5 Schaefer PotG, 4/29/2012, Mets 6, Rockies 5 (11)
  5. Byrdak 0.25 Davis 0.5 Dickey 3 Nieuwenhuis 2.5 Parnell 0.25 Torres 1 Wright 0.5
  6. I won't go so far as to say I disliked Thor, but I definitely think it was the weakest of the run of Marvel Studios movies that began with Iron Man. My lack of dislike may be because I had anticipated it being a lot worse. Watched Incredible Hulk last night. Art Carney makes for a good Bruce Banner. When I had seen the movie previously, I had missed the quick reference to Rick Jones in the opening montage. (There were quick glimpses of the governments files on Banner and the Hulk and Rick was listed as one of Banner's known associates.) I would have preferred that they completely ignore the 2003 film and start from scratch, but I'm okay that they didn't. The way they handled it worked out well. I was less impressed with the climactic battle scene. I know it's almost obligatory in these kinds of movies, but the slugfest between the Hulk and the Abomination was a lot of noise and smashing but not terribly interesting. Next up tonight... Iron Man 2.
  7. Edgy DC wrote: He did the giant leaps and broken English for you. He didn't actually talk in that movie. And that's not the point; it takes more than giant leaps to prevent a movie from sucking.
  8. Did you feel as if you were surrounded by evil?
  9. Huh? Oh... you mean the 2003 movie. No, seeing that movie once was more than enough for me.
  10. Maybe it depends on the opposing starter. I bet if the Astros were pitching a lefty Nieuwenhuis and Torres would be flip-flopped in the order.
  11. Unless my daughter's Friday evening softball game is rained out, it looks like I'll have to wait until Saturday to see The Avengers. (I've been waiting for four years; I suppose I can wait an additional 24 hours.) In preparation, we're having a Marvel Movie Week. Watched Iron Man last night, and in the next several days we'll watch Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, and Captain America. If these movies had come out when I was 10 years old, I would have been completely beside myself.
  12. I've been to Yankee Stadium twice. Once, in 1984, because I figured I ought to go once in my life, and I was able to get $1.50 bleacher seats for a Yankees-Red Sox game. The second time was in 1985, to see Tom Seaver win his 300th game. I can't imagine anything that would induce me to go there again. So I'm in the 27th year of my personal Yankee Stadium exile. And Ceetar, check your math. Two divided by three isn't 0.75.
  13. Oops... there's one Schaefer tradition I've neglected so far this year, the Schaefer Mets Players of the Week. Since the first "week" of the season had only two games, I'll skip designating anyone for the week ending April 7. Here's what we have so far: SCHAEFER METS PLAYER OF THE WEEK Week ending April 14: Jon Niese, 6.63 points. Week ending April 21: Mike Pelfrey, 7.85 points.
  14. It's the last day of the month, and today's game has potentially big Schaefer implications.
  15. Yeah, but they may also not deal with adversity as well as a more experienced team would. I'm still very much wait-and-see with this year's Mets. I don't expect any October excitement, but I'd be delighted with a finish above .500.
  16. Ceetar wrote: Edgy DC wrote: It was different on many many levels. again, not really. Alderson's job is to have good players on the Mets, not on the Marlins. That's really oversimplifying things. If what you say is true, then why the hell didn't he sign Pujols and Fielder too?
  17. Davis 1.3 Hairston 0.7 Nieuwenhuis 1.3 Parnell 0.9 Ramirez 0.9 Santana 2.5 Thole 0.7 Wright 1.7
  18. Post season appearances: Mets 6, Astros 9 Advantage Astros But they lost so many that it evens out. You shorted the Mets there. They've had seven post-season appearances: 1969, 1973, 1986, 1988, 1999, 2000, and 2006.
  19. What, they were too cheap to get real oranges? I blame Jeff Wilpon!
  20. Voting for Thursday afternoon's walkoff win against the Marlins will close on Tuesday morning. Schaefer POTG 04/26/2012 Mets 3, Miami 2
  21. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr awarded 10.1 points, so his votes were prorated as follows: dickey 3.35 wright 2.67 duda 1.09 baxter 0.99 hairston 0.5 acosta 0.5 tejada 0.4 rauch 0.3 parnell 0.2
  22. Duda 3 Wright 2 Gee 2 Murphy 1.5 Tejada 1.5
  23. My guess is that they'll let Schwinden take his next turn and if that goes well he'll get a third start, and if not, he won't. But that's just a guess.
