It occurred to me that I should have made a 1973 card for Colon; opportunities to make a card for a player from the year in which he was born are going to become fewer and fewer unless I move into the 1980s, which I doubt that I'll do. Oh, and that's a 1970 card on the far left, not a 1969.
  4. Sandy mentioned Matt Reynolds recently. Reynolds is 23 years old and, in 18 games in Las Vegas so far, is hitting .365 /.406/.524. Prior to that he was .355 /.430/.422 in Binghamton in 58 games. He plays most of his games at shortstop but has also appeared at second base. Home runs are rare, doubles have spiked since he got to Vegas. Doesn't steal many bases but he does hit triples, so he apparently has some speed.
  5. Voting for the game played on July 1 will close on Tuesday morning, some time after 10 a.m. Schaefer POTG 7/1/14 - Braves 5, Mets 4
  6. Is that a mirror behind and to the right of home plate? I can only guess that it was put there for today's game to allow fans on TV to get a view of Anthony Recker's ass.
  7. Keith Hernandez says he wants nothing to do with Castro. He wants the Mets to get players who aren't "lackadaisical."
  8. Well, at least the person who posted the out-of-nowhere speculation that this young lady (whose name and photo had been visible in this thread) might be a whore has expressed remorse for his post. Oh wait
  9. It was strictly an internal decision.

  11. I don't think now is a good time to trade Syndergaard. He's been struggling and his value at the moment probably isn't what it was in March and (hopefully) what it will be in the future. Unless the Mets feel that he's in decline and won't bounce back, they shouldn't sell low on him.

  13. SCHAEFER METS PLAYERS OF THE MONTH, JUNE 2014 The Schaefer Mets Player of the Month and Pitcher of the Month for June 2014 is BARTOLO COLON, a first-time winner in both categories. Colon was 4-1 in June with a 2.57 ERA over 6 starts. He led the Mets in wins and innings pitched (42.0). Runner-up Jon Niese was 2-1 in June with a 3.10 ERA in 40.2 innings. The Schaefer Mets Relief Pitcher of the Month is, for the second consecutive month, JEURYS FAMILIA. Familia appeared in 13 games in June and had an 0-1 record and an ERA of 1.32 across 13.2 innings. The Schaefer Mets Bench Player of the Month for June is a player who is more frequently seen in the starting lineup. LUCAS DUDA is this month's winner thanks to the 4.50 points he earned by hitting two home runs as a pinch hitter: a [crossout]walk-off[/crossout] game-winning homer in Philadelphia on June 1 and a three-run blast in a loss to Oakland on June 25 at Citi Field. 15. It's been proven that the Astros (36-51, .414) are better at rebuilding than the Mets (37-48, .435)? Seems pretty inconclusive to me at this point.
