  1. I'd like the fifth starter, whoever he (or she) is, to be someone the Mets would feel comfortable giving 30 starts to, because it may very well turn out that we'll need those 30 starts. They should also plan on who their sixth starter will be, because one of the top four may turn out to be fully or partially unavailable before Wheeler returns. If Wheeler returns. I mean, how confident are we that Steven Matz will start anywhere close to 30 games?
  2. I do like the idea of the Mets getting a one-year guy. I don't know anything about Walker, or what the Mets would have to give up to get him, but I do think that a one-year guy is the way to go.
  3. In our preseason prediction threads, there are some people here who always pick the Mets to win 100 games and the pennant. But other than them, I think the consensus here was that they were mediocre, with an outside chance at the playoffs. I know that's how I felt.
  4. This is the third time we've had a head-to-head matchup between a Matz cover and a deGrom cover.
  5. . Winner of Round 1.2.1 JAKE & BAKE New York Post, June 2, 2015 In San Diego, Jacob deGrom pitches 8 scoreless innings as the Mets beat the Padres 7-0. Winner of Round 1.2.3 AMAZIN' MATZ! New York Daily News, June 29, 2015 Steven Matz makes a memorable big-league debut at Citi Field against the Reds, pitching 7.2 innings and going 3 for 3 with 4 runs batted in. . . . . . .
  6. Rosenthal reporting that it's four years, $56 million. So that means it's $14 million the Mets can allocate elsewhere.
  7. Me neither. I was hoping they'd get him, but not getting him has it's benefits. Nobody blocking Dilson Herrera. About $15 million that can be (and hopefully will be) allocated elsewhere.
  8. Ken Rosenthal wrote: Source: Zobrist choosing between #Mets and #Cubs. Comparable offers. Only question is which team he wants to join. #Nationals on periphery. Ken Rosenthal wrote: Sources: #Cubs on Zobrist. Need other moves to come together.
  9. On Mets Hot Stove tonight, Jim Duquette said that the Nationals are out of the picture on Zobrist and it's down to two teams, the Mets and the Cubs.
  10. Also, I think they've explicitly said that their goal for the outfield is to get someone who can platoon with Juan Lagares. I guess things can change if the market doesn't develop as expected, but all indications are that the Mets don't plan to pursue Heyward at all.
  11. It's almost like she's trying to look like Daenerys Targaryen, but unfortunately the dragons would probably be afraid of her.
  12. Wow. I hope that if Zobrist signs with the Mets, he leaves her in Nashville.
  13. I agree too. I'm just not going to get upset about it.
  14. It's Granderson vs. Granderson. I voted for the one where he's monster sized.
  15. Congratulations!
  16. The ghost of Al Campanis is saying, "Hey... wait a minute...!"
  17. Or a picture of him in Egyptian garb, waiting for his camel!
  18. I think that page needs some photos of Jeff as he's wandered through history.
  19. Ken Rosenthal wrote: Asked someone who would know if Zobrist has four-year, $80M offer. Answer: No way.
  20. Lefty Specialist wrote: Supposedly 4 years, $80 million (presumably from the Nats) is on the table. If so, I'll take my chances with Dilson Herrera. Yeah, that's totally crazy.
  21. . Although second-round voting has begun, there are still a few first-round polls winding down and one of them, Poll 1.4.5, has ended in a tie. It's our fourth tied poll in the first round, and this tiebreaker features a Newsday cover vs. a Post cover, both of which report on the Mets completing their NLCS sweep of the Chicago Cubs. This tiebreaker poll will run for three days. Please vote for the cover you like best.
