This pulls you away from the field and toward the leaders, giving you some breathing room in sole possession of third! Your bonus question: Who ended George Brett's 30-game hitting streak in 1980? Ummm.... Goose Gossage?

I find myself hoping that the Braves wrap this one up just so that the Mets can try to talk to those two Dodgers executives that they're allegedly targeting. I really don't care which of these teams advances to the World Series.

But at least in Conforto's case, if they don't sign him, they'll get someone else's pick, right? (Assuming he receives and declines a QO.)

Andy Martino is reporting that the Mets and Baez may reach a deal before Baez even hits free agency, as happened with Mike Piazza in 1998. https://sny.tv/articles/javier-baez-mets-turnaround-dealInside the remarkable turnaround for Javier Baez and Mets, who could agree on a deal quickly Andy Martino wrote: If the Mets make a serious offer early, Baez would be inclined to stay. Some free agencies, especially those of star players, drag on until March. This one does not have to.

. http://potg.leaptoad.com/mets/images/schaefer2018.jpg> Devin Mesoraco made the Schaefer Wall of Fame in September 2018.

. Yeah, well, he's no Brad Pitt. http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2021/20211019_NYDN_02.jpg>

Even if you can get past his tarnished record with the Astros, there's still the fact that his name is Jeff.

For my question I'm going to guess... two.

He has such a silly name. Maybe he can change it to Bob Shildt or Tom Shildt or something like that.

Red Sox

Doc Medich?

Your Ben Grimm Bonus Question: Which first-round-selected Major Leaguer, who ultimately became a Met, had the shortest Mets career? Wild guess here... Jeff Conine?

Hmmm... The only one I can think of is Pedro Martinez. I'm going to guess that there are three that I'm overlooking so I'll say four.
