I'm looking forward (well, only sort of) to the day when we break the three-digit barrier in uniform numbers.

I also like the narrower News covers. Maybe because it's more similar to the dimensions of a comic book? But I think the photos generally look better on the Newsday covers, so my vote can tend to go either way. The Post covers are typically the worst, often with just too much clutter. And I don't seem to be the only one who feels that way. The Post has been doing very poorly in this competition for the past few years. Only one first-round winner this year, compared to 12 for the News and 11 for Newsday.

Huh! It never occurred to me that Mr. Slate might be trans.

19 in the outfield reminds me of Ryan Church. But for me, the classic 19 is Bobby Ojeda. I don't see McNeil as a 1. I'd give him a number in the teens, if one is available. But last I heard, it's not up to me.

I think they'll try to sign the best of whoever remains. And a trade isn't out of the question either. I doubt they'll trade prospects like Mauricio or Baty or Alvarez, but would be more inclined to trade from the big league roster, guys like Smith or McNeil or Davis.

This poll pits two players who are ex- or soon-to-be-ex-Mets who, between them, have appeared on three previous Tabloid Cover Derby champions. Noah Syndergaard was on 2017's GOD OF BLUNDER, which was followed immediately by two Michael Conforto covers: MIDNIGHT BADNESS in 2018 and STREAKERS! in 2019. If you don't believe me, just ask Mr. Slate! http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/images/2020/ArtMuseum2020.jpg>

Anthony DiComo and Jim Duquette were talking about Stroman on Mets Hot Stove. Implied that he may have been a bad influence in the clubhouse and said that Scherzer is an upgrade over Stroman. I don't know about the bad influence thing, but Scherzer/Stroman isn't an either/or, so that spin doesn't make any sense at all.

I had already forgotten about him! My one trip to Citi Field this year was his Mets debut, a no-decision in a win against the Blue Jays. Schaefer Mets Pitcher of the Month in September 2021. Nobody can ever take that away from him! http://leaptoad.com/mets/cards/RichHill1979.jpg>
  24. Benjamin Grimm
I guess Max Scherzer is a fine replacement for Marcus Stroman. (They even have the same initials!) But each potential starter that slips away from the Mets is a lost opportunity. I don't have much faith in the current Mets rotation. They need a lot more depth and I hope they can find a way to get it.
  25. Benjamin Grimm
    I'll say until January 28.
