  8. Not his mom, I hope. It's already weird enough that his name is an ice cream flavor.
  9. I'm a "small Hall" kind of guy, so there's no way I would vote for ten players. I'd vote for Beltran. The rest of the players, I don't know. They all started their careers after I dialed back the amount of attention I pay to baseball so I'm not informed enough to know who should be in and who should be out. Maybe Wagner. Not K-Rod or A-Rod or Dickey.

  21. Twenty-four of the 275 covers this year included the word MAX in the headline. (That's 8.73 percent.) As promised a week or so ago, now that we've seen all of the covers in the competition, it's time to present the GALLERY OF MAX: http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2021/20211129_NSD_02.jpg> http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2021/20211130_NSD_02.jpg> http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2021/20211130_NYDN_02.jpg> http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2021/20211130_NYP_02.jpg> http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2021/20211202_NYDN_02.jpg> http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2021/20211202_NYP_02.jpg> http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2022/20220313_NSD_02.jpg> http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2022/20220322_NSD_02.jpg> http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2022/20220403_NYDN_02.jpg> http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2022/20220420_NSD_02.jpg> http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2022/20220420_NYDN_02.jpg> http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2022/20220519_NSD_02.jpg> http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2022/20220702_NYDN_02.jpg> http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2022/20220705_NYDN_02.jpg> http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2022/20220706_NSD_02.jpg> http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2022/20220706_NYDN_02.jpg> http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2022/20220712_NSD_02.jpg> http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2022/20220712_NYP_02.jpg> http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2022/20220807_NYDN_02b.jpg> http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2022/20220829_NYDN_02.jpg> http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2022/20220904_NYDN_02.jpg> http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2022/20220920_NYDN_02.jpg> http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2022/20221008_NYDN_02.jpg> http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2022/20221008_NYP_02.jpg>
  22. I saw Trevor May doing that too. I think the explanation was that while they were pitching, the coach was installing the PitchCom in the cap.
  23. I don't know if it's destined for Stockholm, but MISERY is a terrific cover.
  24. Today polls 1.25 and 1.26 were posted. These are the final polls for the first round. We've now seen all of the covers, a total of 275 this year, with 103 from the Daily News, 95 from Newsday, and 77 from the New York Post. There are ten polls still open for voting. Barring any need for tiebreaker polls, we should have all 26 winners established by November 30, and the second round would likely begin on December 1. Winning covers are ranked by the percentage of votes that they receive. The top six covers will receive a second-round bye. Here are the current standings: 1. IT'S A MIRACLE! (New York Daily News) 2. BLAST FROM THE PAST! (New York Daily News) 3. PETE TAKES 'EM HOME (New York Daily News) 4. ACE BANDAGE (New York Daily News) 5. LATE SHOW (New York Post) 6. LET'S DO LAUNCH! (New York Daily News) 7. MOOD SWING (Newsday) 14. COLD SNAP! (Newsday) 15. THIS MAY HURT A BIT (New York Daily News) 16. MAXWELL'S SMART (New York Daily News) Covers listed in italics have been eliminated from the competition for a second-round bye.
