The next day, in the New York Times, he was quoted as saying something like "shaking Jerry Grote's hand after the final out was the best feeling I've experienced since sex". I was a kid then, and I remember doing a double-take while reading that. I also remember feeling glad I was not Apodaca's catcher.

    All third round polls have now been posted. Two of them have been completed, and as noted in the 3.02 thread, the New York Post has been eliminated from the competition. The Daily News retains its commanding position; they may have as many as seven of the covers that advance to the Elite Eight. Voting for the fourth round will begin next week.

    I doubt that Nolan Ryan hit nine homers either. Bob Gibson probably did, but he never pitched in the American League. Tom Seaver pitched in both leagues, but he never led the AL in ERA.

    For some reason, the artwork has been pixelated. It might lead me to think that he owns art that he's not supposed to own, but I doubt that's the case. Maybe he's worried that thieves might target specific pieces?
