  1. ="cooby"] "I remember Steve, too" Come on Yancy, you're on a roll... You want me to have three heartbreaks in a single week? How cruel you are! I may be forgetting something. Do we somehow have Mackey's contact information?

  7. I heard back from Frank Thomas' ghost writer this morning. He's going to talk to Frank later today and see if he wants to wade into the Pool.
  8. Twice in one week. I'm really setting myself up for heartbreak. Just this morning I got an e-mail from someone (not a player or coach) who was once connected with the Mets and whom many of us remember. And I invited him to join us here. So it's twenty questions time again. To avoid total confusion, I'll only answer the first question that's posed after each of my replies. Since this was a non-player, I have less information about him, so there may be more "I don't know" answers. I don't know whether he was born North or South of the Mason Dixon Line, for example, but I do know whether his name starts with a consonant or a vowel.
  9. The link to Frank Thomas' book: http://www.philadelphiaathletics.org/cgi-local/cart.pl?IT=booksthom

Anyway, Frank has self-published his autobiography, and his ghost writer has been in contact with me. Frank would like to drop by to talk with us and help spread the word about his book. I have a link at home to the page from which the book can be ordered; I'll paste it here tonight or tomorrow. It's available from the Philadelphia Athletics' web site.
  11. It was a yes-no question, but I think Elster read it as an either-or and thought I gave a smartass response.

  20. Edgy DC wrote: Ooh, ambiguity and a continuing dis' of Iubitul. Use Google, man. That would be problematic, for reasons I can't say yet. Not meaning to dis anyone, but I'm only answering one question at a time to avoid going crazy.
  21. metirish wrote: Is this mystery player currently involved in Professional Baseball as a coach or Front Office type? I'm not absolutely sure, but I think the answer is probably NO.
