A message from Steve Zabriskie on the Ultimate Mets Database

David Cone will probably join the group at some point.

Casey Stengel!

And how about Yogi Berra as the Mets player?

Bob Gibson has to be one of them.

Did he make his Mets debut before the start of the 1995 season?

Did he make his Mets debut before the beginning of the 1986 season?

Is he a pitcher?

Should we go to Twenty Questions?

I guess that means it's not Phil Mankowski.

Joe Grzenda!

Frank Viola!

I know he's not a Met, but I'm wondering if Roy Campanella is in there. Or does his black mother keep him from being seen as Italian-American? If he's not in there, he oughta be.

Yogi Berra? Joe Torre? Lee Mazzilli?

Let's not ask him that.

Hey! My question was the tenth! We've reached the magic number. Let's reel him in! http://www.fishbustercharters.com/images/capt.reeling.gif

Great questions. I was formulating something similar to Johnny's last one in my head. Here's one of my own: When you and Tim joined the broadcast team in 1983, you brought a new style to the telecasts. Ralph did eventually get with the program, but can you comment on how easily he made the adjustment? Did he have any initial difficulties at first?

Nope, don't know. All I know is that he was sending and receiving e-mail last Friday. He said he was going to submit to the UMDB an update on what he's been up to, but as yet that hasn't happened.

I think we should try to reel Steve in somehow. Maybe Edgy can close the deal. Steve's e-mail address is probably in his profile. A nice welcoming e-mail to our illustrious guest, explaining the many advantages of CPF participation (we get a discount at Midas Muffler, don't we?) might induce Steve to actually post here. I think I've proven that I'm not a deal-closer.

He wrote back and told me that he registered himself, but he doesn't know when or if he'll actually post anything here.

I promised to write "The Ballad of Steve Zabriskie" if he'd vote for me.

Check out our new registered user. I have confirmation from The Man himself that it's the real guy. He says he doesn't spend much time online, but he'll participate when possible.

There are two ways to find them: Go to the page for the season in which they were with the Mets: http://www.leaptoad.com/mets/metannual.php?ThisYear=1983 Or, if they're in the mug shot gallery, you can get to them from here: http://leaptoad.com/mets/mugshots.php Steve Zabriskie's UMDB page

Zabriskie is looking puzzled as Ralph is rambling (I think about Orosco) and you see some ???s pop up in quotation balloons Steve What's funny is that I mentioned him in this thread just a few days ago. And suddenly he's in my e-mail box.
