  1. I like those road jerseys as well.
  2. Oh well. We can still hope for Casey Hodges.

  5. Easley is the only middle infielder on the bench. And on days when Castillo is out with aches and/or pains, then there are NO middle infielders on the bench. That's the best explanation I can come up with.
  6. The Phillies really need to do some losing soon. And a lot of it.
  7. Just keep Mariano Rivera out of it.
  8. That seems to make the most sense. He doesn't seem to have the speed you'd want in an outfielder, and he doesn't have the power you'd want at first base.
  9. Sounds like they drafted a DH. Does his bat sound strong enough to make up for his apparent lack of a "natural position?"
  10. Now we can cut Reyes too!
  11. Okay, NOW we can cut Delgado. Or maybe we can wait until next week. Give Ike some time at St. Lucie to get a few at bats.
  12. I'd like a first baseman, a catcher, and a starting pitcher for the first three. All college boys on the fast track. That would be my ideal first round.
  13. They didn't "tear it down!" They "refurbished" it. Just a few splashes of paint and some new light bulbs. That was about all they did.

  22. No. When a pitcher wins player of the month, there's no position player of the month.
  23. ="metirish":2o2x0mpo]Is relief Pitcher of the Month new , I don't remember that beofre , am I going crazy? Maine wins by 0.05 points , just show how important the voting can be , great work Ben Grim.[/quote:2o2x0mpo] Yes, it's new this year. And thanks! sharpie Jun 04 2008 09:44 AM If a relief pitcher wins Pitcher of the Month does that mean there will be a Starter of the Month? Benjamin Grimm Jun 04 2008 09:53 AM No. When a pitcher wins player of the month, there's no position player of the month. Frayed Knot Jun 04 2008 10:55 AM ="AG/DC":xeb25qa0]How about Heilman beating Wagner?[/quote:xeb25qa0] That, along with Schoeneweis's margin over Wagner despite very similar stats, continues last month's discussion about closers not getting their due. Rockin' Doc Jun 04 2008 10:59 AM Due to his role as closer, Wagner generally receives fewer opportunities to score points. TheOldMole Jun 04 2008 11:00 AM How much better could Wagner have done? AG/DC Jun 04 2008 11:01 AM That should inform our voting, I think. I'm no exception there. themetfairy Jun 04 2008 11:07 AM ="Frayed Knot":o25k6kpw]="AG/DC":o25k6kpw]How about Heilman beating Wagner?[/quote:o25k6kpw] That, along with Schoeneweis's margin over Wagner despite very similar stats, continues last month's discussion about closers not getting their due.[/quote:o25k6kpw] Which again opens up the discussion of whether closers are truly more valuable to their teams than the set-up men. John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 04 2008 11:08 AM I don't necessarily think the results show a flaw with us, just the limits of Schaefering in general. Results here are more or less a random snapshot, in that usage patterns don't coincide with the calendar month. Also, on the per-appearance basis (aka, "The Refreshment Index"), Wagner outscores all relievers. themetfairy Jun 04 2008 11:13 AM ="John Cougar Lunchbucket":3m4hznl6]I don't necessarily think the results show a flaw with us, just the limits of Schaefering in general.[/quote:3m4hznl6] True, especially since we don't award negative points when players have bad outings. seawolf17 Jun 04 2008 11:13 AM So if Aaron Heilman wins Player of the Month, he takes home all three trophies? Rockin' Doc Jun 04 2008 03:12 PM metfairy - "True, especially since we don't award negative points when players have bad outings." It's rather tough to take back the beer once they've drank it.
  24. Yes, that's right. Three ways to get a save: Pitch the final three inningsPitch the final full inning with a three-run lead or lessCome into the game with the tying run on base, at the plate, or on deck
