  1. I agree. Shea looked more suited for a big parking lot than Citi Field does. And Citizens Bank Park is in the same category, but since it's close to the Eagles' stadium, it at least looks like it's part of a complex. Citi Field will get its urban neighbors if the Willets Point development plan goes forward. It may be years before that happens, if it ever does.
  2. Is the new one the one on the right?

  4. I don't think the economy will have a dramatic effect on salaries this winter.
  5. In the last few years, "scuffled" has become a euphemism for "struggled." It doesn't sound as bad, but it means the same thing.
  6. Do they still have "walks" in the American League? I thought that was another one of those 19th Century rules that Hank Steinbrenner and the rest of his league had banished.
  7. Scratch what I said earlier. I hope they go 0-162 for the next three years.
  8. It probably would have been better if Donald Duck was in it.
  9. I'd guess that in 1986 he was just visiting with his old head.
  10. When can free agent negotiations begin? It's 15 days from yesterday, right?
  11. Interesting. So who plays first for the Marlins next year? Someone in house that I'm not thinking of?
  12. Maybe he can be a bench coach for the Long Island Ducks.
  13. I'm afraid we'll be reckoning with the Phillies for at least a few more years.
  14. Oh no you di'ent! This morning I wore my Mets cap to the local convenience store when I picked up my newspaper. As I was entering a guy held the door open for me. I said, "Thank you" and he shouted "Mets suck!" No class. I hope the Phillies go 0-162 next season.

I thought I was! Maybe I saw the movies that didn't make the cut. I've never really been a fan of the kinds of movies that make up the bulk of the polls. I'll have to review the 80's on IMDB and see what movies I did actually see.
  16. Didn't see Stripes, but remember thinking I'd probably hate it. Loved E.T., so it gets my vote. I loved E.T. a lot less when I watched it again many years later. (A VHS of E.T., purchased for my young son, was the last thing I ever bought at Woolworth's.)
  17. He's measuring the drapes!
  18. I was thinking of this:
  19. I'm so bad at this. I'm pretty sure I saw Terminator, but I don't think I saw Blade Runner.
  20. Wow, I didn't see either of these, either. Wasn't Three Amigos an animated movie with Donald Duck?
  21. Didn't see either, so I'm not voting, but I have to imagine that Karate Kid is the better of these two movies.
  22. Since I have DirecTV and the Extra Innings package, I'm pretty sure I'll get it. I have my doubts that it will have much worth watching, though. I suspect that there will be a bunch of studio shows with smiling airheads and shouting fools.
  23. Good! Less money for the networks and MLB. The postseason has ended and I didn't see a single pitch of any of the games. We were watching House on TiVo last night when we heard fireworks going off outside. The dog got agitated, and I was wondering what the fireworks were about. Finally my wife remembered that the Phillies were playing and that they must have won. That's how out of my consciousness this has been, even living in the Philadelphia market.
  24. He can't can he? Doesn't his pitcher have to face a batter?
  25. Willets Point wrote: Wouldn't it be hillarious if it stayed tied until the 15th inning so that they end up playing 9 innings tonight? Yeah, I didn't thinks so either. I think it would. In fact, I'm rooting for them to play 18-innings tonight, and then have it start raining again.
