  1. I would think so. What would the downside be? He's not going to accept unless NOBODY is interested in him, and that's pretty unlikely.
  2. As I said in the first round, I hated Caddyshack. Tootsie gets my vote.
  3. I agree with that. If he plays all of 2009 like he did the first six weeks or so of the 2008 season, they'll be strong at the position. And while that's a possibility, I'm not sure of how likely it is.
  4. Me too. Argenis should spend 2009 in Buffalo.
  5. Are those Doug Flynn's initials?
  6. Yeah, I think he'd be an OK pinch hitter. I just think he'd be too one-dimensional, at his age, for the Mets roster. I'd rather have the spot taken by someone more versatile
  7. No, he doesn't.
  8. I'd rather see them sign free agents, I think. I'm not sure how many trade chips the Mets have that I'd be willing to see go. Of course, guys like Castillo, Heilman, Feliciano, and Anderson could be traded, but I don't see them bringing back much. Murphy and F. Martinez are good chips, but I'd prefer to hang on to them. Especially Murphy. They shouldn't trade Pelfrey or Maine. Or Wright, Reyes, or Beltran. They say they plan to keep Delgado, but that may change. Otherwise, who else is there with some value whose departure wouldn't create a new need? Evans? He won't bring back much.
  9. A bullpen with Putz and Kunz would be interesting.
  10. I'd prefer them to deal/dump Castillo and either cross their fingers and go with Murphy, or bring in Orlando Hudson. The vibes we're getting at this early point in the offseason is that the 2009 Mets will be very much like the 2008 Mets, except with some changes to the pitching staff.
  11. Wow. Two movies that I really liked. I'm going with the bull, though.
  12. The Mets have reportedly made contact with Fuentes' agent, Rick Thurman. From Adam Rubin in the Daily News: ]Thurman acknowledged his Beverly Hills Sports Council, which represents Fuentes, has a meeting scheduled with the Mets during the GM meetings, which opened Monday at the St. Regis Monarch Beach resort, the site of the infamous AIG convention that drew Congress' ire after the bailout package was passed. "New York is on our radar," Thurman said. "I think New York would be a great place for him. He thrives on the pressure." From the same article, there's this, which isn't very encouraging: ]Mets VP Tony Bernazard said if the Mets strike out through free agency or trade, they're prepared to potentially use Bobby Parnell or Eddie Kunz in the closing role. "Why not? What's wrong with that?" Bernazard asked. "You can't sign one of those guys, what are you going to do - not play?" In other words, if we can't get anyone good, we may have to just settle for sucking. What else can we do?
  13. She tries.
  14. It's not her weight that makes her unappealing, it's the noises that come out of her mouth.
  15. Rachael Ray is an example of how someone can be both cute AND unappealing at the same time.
  16. I expected it would be surrounded by a large puddle of spilled coffee.
  17. Wow! Two movies that I've seen AND remember! That's a rarity for me. Breakfast Club didn't connect with me, but my younger sister loved it and watched it repeatedly. Either I was too old or too male for that one. I got a big kick out of Poltergeist, so it gets my vote. Easy choice.
  18. I like that ghost image of Fulton County Stadium. I hope they do as nice a job for Shea.
  19. It's that area across from right field that's proposed for redevelopment, isn't it? The plans do include a hotel. I could easily see myself staying in a hotel there and walking back to the room after a night game.
  20. I know! I remember sitting in a doctor's waiting room a few years ago and reading an article about how mediocre retired players are living a life of ease with the millions that they've earned. One player spotlighted in the story was Mark Clark.
  21. I wouldn't guarantee him anywhere near $7 or $8 million. Any contract Pedro gets, from anyone, should have a low base and plenty of incentives.
  22. I think the Rangers' stadium is also one of those parking lot buildings. (The Six Flags comment made me think of it; you drive right past the ballpark on the way to the theme park.)
  23. Well, all the Mets need to do is find two players comparable to Victor Zambrano and Bartolome Fortunado. Shouldn't be hard to do.
