  1. I don't want to stir up an ugly intramural competition, but GFafif should also throw his hat in the ring.
  2. Jimmy's page frees up on February 12. I see a Mets fan has Chase Utley's page.
  3. Edgy DC wrote: Check out who paid good lettuce to sponsor Santana's page: http://www.baseball-reference.com/s/santajo02.shtml We need to appoint somebody to keep an eye on Jimmy Rollins' page.
  4. G-Fafif wrote: Santana is the ... first Met starter to receive any first-place votes since Gooden in 1987. That's a little surprising. I would have thought Cone in 1988 might have gotten a few first place votes with his 20-3 record. Was Hershiser unanimous that year?
  5. So Piazza now shops around for a ghost, I suppose? I figure he'll go with a sportswriter he had a good relationship with during his playing days.
  6. Good thought. Writing the hell out of the book would be even better than reading the hell out of it.
  7. Jaden Smith is set to star in a remake of "The Karate Kid," to be produced by his daddy, Will. The long-rumored project is moving forward with a 2009 shoot date, according to Variety.
  8. I loved Ghostbusters when it came out. It gets my vote.
  9. Just saw this headline on MSNBC.com: Lincecum, Santana, Sabathia vie for NL Cy Young I first read that as "tie" and my heart skipped a beat.
  10. I'm not really a fan of Field of Dreams, but it wins this matchup.
  11. I had a friend in college who wouldn't watch any James Stewart movies because Jimmy was a Republican who palled around with Ronald Reagan. Me, I don't worry about the political beliefs of the actors in a movie. I take their performance for what it is.
  12. I don't see the sense in that either. I'd figure that Street replaces Fuentes as closer. I'd also think that if Street were to be traded to the Mets for Heilman, the Rockies would have to get some additional players.
  13. I agree. I'd like to see at least ten feet between the foul line and the stands. Fifteen would be better.
  14. Huston Street was a player the Mets were rumored to be interested in. Had he been traded to New York, he'd have to change the pronunciation of his first name to "Howston."
  15. I'd really love to see the Mets have a viable candidate one of these years. I think Daniel Murphy has just a little bit too much playing time to be eligible next year. Maybe Jon Niese will have a shot.
  16. I'll have to make it a point to reread Watchmen.
  17. And from Marvel and DC, it looks like 2009 will be bringing us X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Watchmen.
  18. It does look that way. Me, I've never liked moronic comedies, but I seem to be in the minority.
  19. I voted for ET because I loved it in 1982. Now, it does nothing for me.
  20. I might watch Terminator. I don't think I'd watch Naked Gun.
  21. A pull hitter like Delgado could hit 80 homers playing on that field.
  22. Yeah! It does look like there will be a ton of cheap home runs. From that picture, I'd say that home plate should be moved about thirty feet in the direction of center field.
  23. "former New York Mets head coach Willie Randolph" Anyone who calls a baseball manager a "head coach" isn't much of a baseball follower.
  24. Doug Melvin forgot to add that "he knows how to win."
  25. I hadn't thought of that! Hmmm....
