Whoa! I wonder if those guys who were demonstrating in front of the SNY studios have egg on their faces. Probably not. They'll argue that even only 112 games of Manny at $25 million per year is just what the team needs.

Seems fishy to me, too. Maybe this will let them give him a rehab assignment to Buffalo and the Mets can conveniently forget to recall him.

Hopefully Cora won't realize that he sucks and will hit an extra-base hit here.

I refuse to believe that Chan Ho Park can no-hit the Mets.

Beltran's two homers the other day moved him into a tie with, and then past, Edgardo Alfonzo. He's now all alone in 8th place on the Mets home run list. One more and he'll tie Kevin McReynolds for 7th place.

I'm sure it will be blacked out in Philadelphia too. Since I don't have Comcast cable, I can't see most of the local Phillies broadcasts, except for the relatively few that are on the over-the-air channel.

Of course, this settlement doesn't settle the issue of Alomar's health. It just got the plaintiff to agree to shut up. He's still just as HIV positive, or not, as he was before today. So that issue remains up in the air.

I pointed that out. He says that he hits the ball better in a batting cage than he does on a golf course. I didn't care to prolong the argument.

And my brother-in-law insists that it's harder to hit a golf ball than a baseball.

Didn't Castro have a "prolonging the time at bat" drop of a pop up behind the plate? I think it was with Santana on the mound, if I remember correctly.

I'm managing a softball team of seven- and eight-year-old girls. Last year, in t-ball, I was an assistant coach, but the manager was a shlub who didn't know what he was doing, so I made all the decisions. We've played two games so far, and unofficially won them both. (We're not supposed to keep score, but I've been doing so secretly.) The girls seem to be having fun, the parents have been nice, and I'm having a good time too. My daughter wants to be the first female major leaguer, but her teammate Amanda has extraordinary (for her age, anyway) talent and outstanding (again, for her age) instincts. If any of my group of girls is going to crack the gender line, it will be Amanda.
