  1. ="Edgy DC":wrzhktdj] The UMDB listed 867 Mets, but didn't note those last three debuts, so you're correct and I'm not. [/quote:wrzhktdj] Yeah, sorry about that. I had to purge all box scores from May 29 on, because of a formatting change in the source boxes that I paste from. (I didn't notice the error until Frayed Knot pointed out a problem with David Wright's June OBP in the Schaefer POTM thread. Walks and strikeouts weren't being counted correctly. I've since re-pasted about a dozen of the purged box scores, and I should have the rest done shortly. Fman99 Jul 06 2009 09:46 AM No, the Mets no longer count. Benjamin Grimm Jul 06 2009 09:51 AM That's because they're averaging zero runs per game. metsguyinmichigan Jul 06 2009 09:58 AM I'd already forgotten about Darren O'Day and Casey Fossum. 2. This team is just miserable to watch. All the fun from Thursday afternoon's win seems like it was a month ago.
  3. It's all so confusing, with the Mets wearing red caps and the Phillies wearing blue batting helmets. I'm only casually paying attention, and whenever I look up at the TV screen, I think the Mets, when they're in the field, are the Phillies.
  4. I've given it a lot of thought, and I too don't think that I think too much.
  5. If the balloons were powerful enough to lift the house with the people in it, then how were the boy and the old guy able to keep the house from floating off when they were walking along on the ground?
  6. Which is an argument against releasing him, but not an argument against stashing him in Buffalo.
  7. Thanks, G. Meanwhile, I seem to have discovered that the box scores I've been pasting from have been underreporting walks and strikeouts, which is why David Wright's OBP was wrong in the initial post. I guess I'll have to get this straightened out at some point.
  8. You're right about the slugging, that should have been .529, but I stand by the .380. (At least, for now.) David had 38 hits, 2 walks, 1 HBP, and one SF in 104 at bats. (38 + 2 + 1) / (104 + 2 + 1+ 1) = 0.3796. Where did you get your .432 from?
  9. SCHAEFER METS PLAYER AND PITCHERS OF THE MONTH, JUNE 2009 The Schaefer Mets Player of the Month for June 2009 is DAVID WRIGHT. David was the Mets dominant offensive player in June. He was the only Met to play in all 27 games, and led the team with 104 at bats, 18 runs, 38 hits (15 ahead of runner-up Ryan Church), 11 doubles, and 8 stolen bases. His .365 batting average also led the team (Church was next, with .307) and his .380 slugging and .380 OBP topped Gary Sheffield's .506 and .329. Wright's 12 runs batted in were second to Brian Schneider's 14 and his 2 home runs were actually enough to finish second on the Mets (tied with Carlos Beltran and Brian Schneider) behind Sheffield's 5. The Schaefer Mets Pitcher of the Month in June is LIVAN HERNANDEZ, a first-time winner. Livan was 1-2 with a 3.69 ERA in 6 starts. Among Mets starters, only Fernando Nieve (3-1, 2.25) had a better ERA, but with only 4 starts, he had fewer opportunities to accumulate Schaefer points. After an outstanding May, June was a poor month for Mets starters, with John Maine sidelined and Mike Pelfrey and Johan Santana both turning in ERA's over 6.00. Tim Redding (1-1, 4.99) led the team with 20 strikeouts. And the Schaefer Mets Relief Pitcher of the Month is, for the first time, SEAN GREEN. Sean pitched 15 innings in 15 games, allowing 11 hits, 4 walks, and he struck out 11. He was 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA. He edged last month's winner, Francisco Rodriguez, who was 0-2 in June with 6 saves and a 2.25 ERA in 12 games. 13. That was a helluva game. Makes me feel a glimmer of optimism! And despite the blown save, I'm going to give Frankie Rodriguez some Schaefer. That was a gutty effort from him.
  14. Nymr83 wrote: does Rodriguez stay in there or does Parnell go for a save? I'm wondering that too. I don't like either choice, but I think I'd stick with Frankie, at least to start the inning.
  15. That was a very nice play by Wright getting that force at third.
  16. True. Nieve can pitch today (if necessary) and maybe Niese can take Saturday's start. (If, that is, he hasn't pitched too recently for Buffalo.)
  17. Oops, maybe not. I see that Nieve is scheduled to pitch on Saturday. I think Redding has made his last start, by the way.
  18. If the game goes long, I wonder if Nieve would be available? (Hope it doesn't come to that... Green just closed out the seventh.)
  19. Tatis homers! 8-5 Mets!
  20. Church rather daringly scores the go-ahead run on a shallow fly to left. The throw was terrible and he scored easily.
  21. Santos walks (that's a non-single!) and Reed to hit for Dessens.
  22. Mets are showing some moxie! Coming back from five runs down to tie the score! I didn't think such a thing was possible.
  23. Tatis attempts to GIDP but is safe at first.
  24. What about the thought that Redding and Perez will share their starts, with Redding pitching the first five innings and Perez the final four?
