  1. Grover Powell?
  2. 2009 did indeed set a record for most individual Mets with triples. (19) 18 Mets tripled in 1963. 16 Mets tripled in 1962, 1966, and 1980. 15 Mets tripled in 1969 and 1976. And there were 14 Mets with triples in 1970, 1972, 1987, 1993, 2000, and 2004. At the other extreme, only 2 Mets tripled in 2010, but the season is still rather young. For full seasons, the minimum count is 8, which happened in 1983, 1999, and 2005. Only 9 Mets had triples in 1967 and 2002.
  3. Okay, I'll venture a guess. Was Jack Fisher one of them?
  4. Voting for Wednesday night's 10-inning loss to the Marlins will close some time over the weekend. If you still have a vote to cast, please try to get it in today.
  5. Niese 2.3 Francoeur 1.4 Bay 1 Pagan 1 Igarashi 1 Takahashi 1
  6. Other guys who shoulda been Mets: Todd Fiegel Matt Ruebel And one who still might: James Ewing
  7. At least no liquid feces are involved this time around.
  8. Edgy DC wrote: Such a hijack. I know, and I'm sorry. But if I'm going to have an imaginary girlfriend, I don't think it's going to be the Pittsburgh Pirates.
  9. Or maybe she has a niece, and she's making a bear, stuffed with vagina-cotton, as a gift.
  10. So... did anybody notice? What number are the bat boys wearing?
  11. Nine voters so far for that game, and three have voted a tie among two or more players for most points. For the other six, two have awarded the most points to Bay, two to Cora, and two to Castillo.
  12. Is the 13th inning guy Leroy Stanton?
  13. Well, if he's dead now, he doesn't know that his son is a Phillie.
  14. And tomorrow we'll probably be saying, well, 2 and 2 won't be so bad...

  18. I think I would have done terribly in a name-the-managers quiz. I've never heard of Hinch. And I couldn't have named the managers in Houston, Pittsburgh, Washington, and a few other cities either. And I didn't even remember that Dusty Baker was managing the Reds.
  19. That won't work either. After his career ends, he'll be too busy healing the sick and raising the dead.
  20. You just have to place some softball girls in the stands each time he pitches.
  21. Eh. It would be weird to suddenly start rooting for him again after all these years, but if it happened we'd all survive. I think if I were to make a list ranking how much I'd like to see a former Mets manager return, Torre would finish third, behind Bobby Valentine and Davey Johnson, but ahead of Yogi Berra and Bud Harrelson and Jeff Torborg and Dallas Green and Art Howe.
  22. Latest word is that Jose is expected to return to the Mets and play shortstop on Saturday.
