Syracuse did not get any home runs from MJ Melendez on Sunday, as his weekend longball tear ended at four in two games. But they did have Hayden Senger and Billy Amick go deep, and those two supplied more than half the Mets’ offense.
Unfortunately for the Mets, three St. Paul batters went yard to account for all the Saints’ runs. The last one delivered a two-run blast that proved to be the difference in a 6-5 St. Paul victory.
Syracuse led 4-1 after four innings, but St. Paul put up a five-spot in the bottom of the fifth, on a three-run homer and a two-run shot. Amick homered in the ninth to get the Mets closer. Senger opened the scoring with a two-run shot.
Syracuse was the lone Mets affiliate in action Sunday. Binghamton’s scheduled season finale at Portland was canceled because of rain. The game will not be made up, as the Eastern League regular season has concluded.

Syracuse Beaten At Powerball In Series Finale
The Mets struck first in the third. Ryan Clifford tripled to right field, and Senger followed with a two-run homer, his 12th of the season.

Syracuse doubled the lead in the fourth, thanks to some alert baserunning. Melendez and Vidal Bruján drew back-to-back walks to lead off the frame. The next batter, Eric Wagaman, hit a jam-shot grounder past the first baseman and down the right-field line. Melendez scored from second, and a hustling Bruján came all the way around from first as a soft throw from the outfield went to the middle of the diamond.

Wagaman was credited with just one RBI as Bruján took home on the throw. Brujan was not credited with a stolen base, and the Saints were not charged with an error.
St. Paul answered with a solo homer in the fourth off starter Justin Hagenman, and then jumped on Mets relievers Ryan Lambert and Brian Metoyer in the the fifth. A walk and a hit batsman set up a three-run homer off Lambert that tied the game at 4-4. After a walk and a stolen base, Lambert recorded a strikeout for the second out of the inning. At that point, he was replaced by Metoyer, who served up a two-run shot to put the Saints ahead 6-4.
Amick got one back in the ninth when he homered over the batter's eye in straightaway center field.

Amick homered in back-to-back games to end the series and went deep three times in all against his former organization, the Minnesota Twins. He left the Twin Cities with eight homers in 19 games for Syracuse, 15 in 31 games as a Mets minor leaguer, and 38 for the season.
Hagenman allowed two hits over four innings, with two walks and one strikeout. After Lambert and Metoyer stumbled, Zach Franklin, Jefry Yan, and Saul Garcia combined for three scoreless innings. Yan struck out three in his inning.
