ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 Homer has had some rest. After yesterdays beatdown I would expect the Mets to hit.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 (edited) Homer Bailey was, along with Phil Hughes, the top pitching prospect in all of baseball a decade ago as the 2007 season started. And while neither has had a bad career, they both kind of prove the old BP adage of TNSTAAPP: There's No Such Thing As A Pitching ProspectBailey: 64-60; 4.44 ERA; 1.36 WHiPHughes: 88-79; 4.47; 1.31Bailey also winds up 6th on the list of longest active pitcher to have pitched for just one ML team, although injuries have left him with far fewer games pitched compared to the rest of that group.Bailey - Cincy, made his ML debut in 2007 - tonight is his 187th ML gameGlen Perkins, Twins 2006 - 404 games pitched (although only 40 starts)Adam Wainwright, Cards 2005 (as I'm sure you remember) - 343Matt Cain, Giants 2005 - 340Felix Hernandez, Mariners 2005 - 372Justin Verlander, Tigers 2005 - 379All were 1st round draft picks except for Hernandez since he wasn't subject to the draft at all.All but Wainwright have been only with one organization. Wainwright was drafted by the Braves but traded before his reached the majors. Edited August 30, 2017 by Guest
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 Going with the MLBtv radio feed tonight. What inning are you in FK?

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Fkn' Votto. Strand him there Monty!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Four full innings in under an hour ... is that even allowed in modern baseball?!?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 He did, with shifty work from Cabrera!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 OK, the Yanx just got smacked in the back half of their double-header after losing a tight one earlier this afternoon, all of which complete a three-game sweep by the Indians in advance oftheir final series of the year with the BoSox, a four-gamer in the Bronx starting Thursday.Blowing the lead in this here game would really put a damper on what so far is a great baseball day. So don't do it, OK?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Reyes's first steal of 3rd tonight was both meaningless and too late -- why sit there with no outs and then one out then decide to go once there are two?And his second attempt there was just plain stupid (1st & 2nd, #3 hitter up, 2 outs) particularly with maybe the best throwing catcher in the league back there.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Yeah, dat wuz dum.Upside: this is a good-hitting team that Montero is shutting down.Downside: this is a bad-pitching team keeping the Reds in the game anyhow.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Yeah, one single since the 1st inning = not good
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 What a dog-days series with SNY relegating it to Randazzo & Darling.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 What a job.I don't anticipate that they'll send him out for the ninth, but I hope he starts the inning.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Cy Monterrific ladies and gentlemen, Monterrific.
Guest 41Forever Guests Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Just getting here. Is that really Rafael Montero?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Here comes Terry. This could still go Randy Tate on us
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Come on! Should have pulled him after one baserunner.
Guest 41Forever Guests Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Wow, 117 pitches. But if Terry had pulled him and gone with Ramos to start the inning, I'd have bellyached. Big strikeout!

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 BOOKS!!Nothing Ramos threw in those two ABs was anywhere near the middle of the strike zone. Great pitching!!!
