Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Will Wheeler flourish now that he knows what the inside of a ball looks like?

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Get your bets down. For once, Terry posts his lineup before the opposition. No surprises.[fimg=250:1pp2x9h8]https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/4c/Citi_Field_Home_Run_Apple_2012.jpg[/fimg:1pp2x9h8][*:1pp2x9h8]Michael Conforto, cf[/*:m:1pp2x9h8][*:1pp2x9h8]Asdrubal Cabrera, 2b[/*:m:1pp2x9h8][*:1pp2x9h8]Yoenis Cespedes, lf[/*:m:1pp2x9h8][*:1pp2x9h8]Jay Bruce, rf[/*:m:1pp2x9h8][*:1pp2x9h8]T.J. Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Bit of a different StL team from the one we saw pre-break in that OFs Randal Grichuck and Steven Piscotty have both been DL'd so that their OF these days is Pham & Fowler in LF & CF with either the 28 y/o rookie Jose Martinez or the guy whose name Keith & Gary were tossing around yesterday, Magneuris Sierra, covering RF.2B Kolten Wong, who was not active in the last series, has since been called up and started two of the three games since the break. They came out of the break losing 2 of 3 in Pittsburgh with both losses coming via walk-offsCarlos Martinez pitched on Sunday so he should be the one guy we miss in this four game set - although he was also the one guy we hit in the earlier series so go figure.Looks like we'll get Wainwright followed by Wacha. After that Wednesday & Thursday both say TBD but it'll probably be some combo of Mike Leake and Lance Lynn

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Tonight's trivia question: Keith is one of five players with 25 or more homers with both the Cardinals and the Mets. Who are the other four?Um ... Bernard Gilkey, Carlos Beltran, Joe Torre, and ... Ken Boyer?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Torre and Boyer are both wrong, wrong, wrong.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Why were we playing Tommy Pham with the shift like he's Dave F. Kingman?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 Céspedes just doesn't seem to know what he wants to swing at.

Gilkey, Beltran, Zeile, and Jefferies.Mets are hitting the ball hard all night, until they get a guy in scoring position. A very strandy night team tonight.

nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 Three straight walks with 2 outs, the last one on 4 pitches, that's where I'm willing to pull a starter out of the game early.
