Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 The Bullpen strikes again. Wheeler deserved better.
Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 If you guys back east heard someone yelling "FUCK" just now, that was me. Et tu, Jerry?
Guest 41Forever Guests Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Dammit. This team just gives away wins.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Unbelievable!!Blevins was one pitch away from a 1-2-3 seven-pitch inning after he got 0-2 on Mazara, but he never got the third strike.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Y'know what else strikes again ... the curse of the backup catcher!!If I get ambitious over the next few days I'm going to start counting up how many HRs this staff has served up to backup backstops this year.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Can Reyes come through with a 2 pout hit with RISP?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Never had it Andrus. If this is over-turned on review I want it appealed to the World Court in The Hague. Now let's have d'Arnaud knock the prison tattoos off this guy for some insurance runs.

Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Reyes with a soft grounder up the middle. Odor fields it and spikes the throw in the dirt and Andrus can't handle it cleanly. Reynolds scores to give Mets the lead.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 the Mets are 3 outs away from a a nice win. Come on Reed.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Reynolds was so deep against Gallo that he practically needed a relay man for that 4-3 put-out.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 8, 2017 Author Posted June 8, 2017 Mets win a game with four hits, a night after losing a game despite a million of 'em.Let's turn this ship around.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 And Jerry Blevins vultures the win.

I know that there's the "brief-and-ineffective" rule, but you rarely see it, and when it does get invoked, the win seems to always go to the pitcher who came after Mr. Brief-And-Ineffective, and not to the one who preceded him.Anyway...Cast your vote!

There's no precedence for retroactively assigning the win to a guy who wasn't in the game at any point during or after the lead was grabbed for good.So that leaves only Reed but, since you can't get a win and a save in the same game, the 'W' goes to Mr. Vulture du jour.
