Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 I haven't gone into Flushing for Korean food in some time, I need to startdoing that again. Sam Won Gak doesn't ring a bell, anyone have a few restaurantnames they can recommend? Thai was mentioned a few posts ago too, love Thai.Centerfield wrote:Maybe the Wilpons should sell to someone who has some experience in real estate development. D'oh!

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 I've always been of the mindset that-- barring infirmity or bone loss-- if we can make it through back-to-back pennant-race collapses, MFY dynasties right next door, and many, MANY Bataan-like 70-win seasons, we should have the stamina for a 10-minute walk, especially one where you get soup dumplings or a football-sized torta at the end. Most of the good K- spots I know in the area (including two places-- Mad For Chicken, Kyedong-- tied for the best Korean fried chicken I've ever had) are along Northern Blvd. Closer to Roosevelt on Union St there are a couple of 24- hour joints-- Kim Ga Nae, and San Soo Kap San-- that are really, really solid, if a little shabby in terms of decor. I've heard good things about The COOP on Prince St (just off Roosevelt), which features fried chicken and various upscale Korean bar-food faves AND is open waaaay late (3 or 4 AM); I haven't yet had a chance to confirm these recommendations firsthand. (BONUS: in that same complex is the Sichuan place-- Guan Fu-- with the glowing NY Times review.)There are a bunch of decent hole-in-the-wall Thai places within a couple of stops toward Manhattan... but my favorite (a little farther in, in Woodside) remains SriPriPhai, with its drunken noodles, fantastic beef panang, and lovely fried whole fish. And yeah-- not much of it is dressed up in any blue and orange, much less festooned with Nimmo-rabilia. But the way I figure it, if we're there, and we're Metly, it's made Metly by our presence. Represent proudly, and the world is your jigae-filled Shea.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 my friend got random beef-like meat on a stick from a random cart on a random corner in Flushing before NLCS game 6 in 2006.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 Mouth watering, LWFS... thanks!
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 Ain't nothing wrong with beef on a stick, but I would slap my mother for good Korean fried.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2018 Author Posted February 8, 2018 Jeez, no. If Donald Trump bought the Mets I'd really have to rethink my fandom.
