Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 21, 2017 Author Posted May 21, 2017 A 9-2 loss in the walks column. That's where we're getting kilt on both sides of the ball.I got to dig another garden bed. I sang "Secret Garden" as I dug.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2017 Posted May 21, 2017 Mayday Milone got paid in the ballpark of $20,000 for his efforts today. Wow.

Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted May 21, 2017 Posted May 21, 2017 Time to dump the fish angle as this game stank worse than an overheated can of Surströmming.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 21, 2017 Author Posted May 21, 2017 It's like the Mets forced Noah Syndergaard to get an MRI, and the MRI revealed he was Tommy Milone.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 Is this the end of Mayday Milone? I think we've seen enough of him, but I'm not sure what the alternative is. Someone from Vegas? Another shot for Montero?
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 I watched 0% of this game. Seems to have been a good life choice for me.

Someone from Vegas? Another shot for Montero? One day at a time right now, I think. Pill pitched today. He doesn't strike folks out, but he keeps the ball in the park, with only two homers in 56 1/3 innings. At 4-1 with 1.60 ERA, I would think he's got to be a candidate.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 22, 2017 Author Posted May 22, 2017 OE -- Don't forget that -- assuming that talent evaluation is more or less accurate and efficient, when MLB expands, it adds players that otherwise would still be in the minor leagues. Two new teams means you'd have 50 new major leaguers, most of them worse than Adam Wilk and Rafael Montero. How is that not watering down the league?Because they add a team, on average once every 8.36 years. So yeah, if you measure it from the very minute before two teams were added to the very minute after, talent has been watered down. If you measure it over time, no it hasn't.Keith was speaking from his "day"—the midpoint of his career (the mexridian) being 1982—to now. Four teams have been added in 35 years since then. A 15.3% increase. The earth's population has increased by 63% in that time.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 22, 2017 Author Posted May 22, 2017 Teddyway, we got a scoreless inning from Neil Ramirez. So he gets off his shneid. But I think anybody who goes to bed with an infinite ERA even for one night, and has to enter his next appearance with "ERA: INF" on the scoreboard, gets to go home with a Lino Urndaneta Award.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 BG - I intended to give Jay Bruce 2.5 points for this game, but somehow it didn't show up. May I ask you to add that please?
