By no means an easy play but he made it look impossible. Bruce had some bad luckI agree. That's the 2nd time this week I've seen him give up on a fly ball over his head.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 Niiiiice. Reyes singles AND steals 2nd. That's what I wanna see.

That didn't scan to me like lazy-fuckery as much as play-it-off-the-wall.Hey, Jose gets frisky.

He just runs so violently when he's a top speed — like a tight end protecting the ball as linebackers bounce off of him — and I think he'd rather avoid it when he can.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 Rivera comes up against a pitcher getting wild and just chased two balls on the first two pitches.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 FFS, Jose, with the running?
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 That'll do, Ne-ne.A big something for Grandy here would go a long way to cure ills.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 Geez. Hate to see a double play grounder go to waste like that.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 Franco is sort of a young Juan Uribe. Fat and unathletic, but he somehow gets around on stuff.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 I was hoping that the score would improve if I switched for a while to The Bob Newhart Show! It worked!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 Granderson's Aprils are full of these deep drives that are filled with topspin. They jump off the bat but they end up diving into glove at the end of their ride.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 More Ron Darling debut trivia (since the TV question sent me searching to BB-Ref):In his first ever ML game, Sept 6, 1983 vs Phillies at Shea, which he and the Mets lost 2-0, a) how did he give up his first (and only) run in that game? (the 2nd run was unearned against reliever Carlos Diaz) who was the winning pitcher that night for the PhilsAnswers (since no reasonable person would be expected to get them)a) a [u:1rzep3p0]Balk[/u:1rzep3p0]. After retiring the first nine batters he faced including 5 strikeouts, Darling walked Joe Morgan to lead-off the 4th then, after a groundout moved him to 2nd, RD balked him to 3rd then balked him home Tug McGraw with 2.1 innings of 1 hit scoreless relief. Starter Tony Ghelfi was given a 1-0 lead but couldn't finish the 5th inning. Al Holland then relieved Tug and pitched the 8th & 9th for the save.At bat, Ron struck out in his first AB though singled to left in his second.
