Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 There's no substitute for speed. It helps you on offense and defense. It's fortunate that people like it because ... it's about 85% of my game.Is that going to get me to the bigs? Well, maybe not, but they're faking it in center right now, and I'm working on getting the rest of my game to catch up. And I got to play in the AFL. And the system is thin on outfielders. So ... maybe? Maybe soon? Help me out here.[fimg=332:147aqaw7]http://www.baseballamerica.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Champ-Stuart-2016-bm.jpg[/fimg:147aqaw7] [fimg=388:147aqaw7]http://a2.espncdn.com/combiner/i?img=%2Fphoto%2F2015%2F0422%2Fmlb_champstuart_1296x729.jpg[/fimg:147aqaw7][fimg=369:147aqaw7]http://www.christschool.org/uploaded/images/Athletics/champstuart_two.jpg[/fimg:147aqaw7] [fimg=351:147aqaw7]http://metsmerizedonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/champ-stuart-e1478022473410.jpg[/fimg:147aqaw7]
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 He has a great glove but for now, he looks like Juan Lagares's backup and since Juan is a backup, and the Mets don't prioritize D in CF, Stuart can take out a 5 month lease in Las Vegas.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 You can't steal first. Until he learns to hit his way there, he won't make it to the majors. And he'll be learning at A+ this year.Later
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 Maybe someday I'll stop thinking of this guy whenever I see Champ Stuart's name:
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 23, 2017 Author Posted March 23, 2017 Stuart may not be particularly big league bound, but he's not heading back to St. Lucie. He's probably Bingo's top outfielder, and will split the season between AA and AAA. He'll even see some some September time in Flushing, if mostly as a pinch-runner/defensive sub.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 In other words, he'll be a Countdown Quiz answer a few years from now.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 Wouldn't expect to see him in NYC unless several options at CF don't work first. My impression from the few moments of seeing him play in ST is that he's a minor leaguer at least till late 2018, but hopeful he can improve on his game in AA/AAA this season.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 Not sure if he's got a ML career in front of him, but he's a much better bet than is his cousin Loser Stuart.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Nothing to see here in 2017, at least not Metly.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Congratulations Champ! And nice try to all the Challenger Stuarts, including Little, Smalley, Scott and Dick "Dr. Strangeglove".
