Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 I'm happy to, um, be here. I mean, I'm a control pitcher without exactly walk-free numbers who had a good, but not great, year in St. Lucie. I'm about 15th on the starting pitcher depth charts, but somehow, the Mets got the idea that somebody would steal me in the Rule 5 Draft and try to make big leaguer out of me.That something probably has something to do with my surgically repaired elbow. I was having a hit-and-miss minor league career until Tommy John came calling. And I returned with an extry four miles per hour on my fastball. Now it's a question of harnessing it. Maybe I'm due for a switch to the bullpen or maybe some jobs open up and I burst through as a starter. It's happened, you know. But what's going to happen with me? Help me out here.[fimg=350]http://metsmerizedonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Chris-Flexen.jpg?x22250[/fimg] [fimg=350]http://www.milb.com/assets/images/5/8/0/57683580/cuts/flexen_apckruwc_vtj7dmd9.jpg[/fimg][fimg=380]https://cdn0.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/rrlxvsYBXrG2QmyonlU-xN66-dE=/0x140:4716x2793/1600x900/cdn0.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_image/image/52041351/chris-flexen-2016-mcshane-1.0.0.jpeg[/fimg] [fimg=320]http://www1.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Chris+Flexen+Tf0CNoSsRY4m.jpg[/fimg]Bonus photo: Chris Flexen, Sr., Newark, NJ.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 If he's going to start calling himself "Jeurys Familia" hopefully he'll learn how to pronounce his first name.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 2, 2017 Author Posted March 2, 2017 Auto-fill foils the best of intentions.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 He seems to be Rafael Montero lite. Good, but not overpowering stuff. Can he find decent control as he rises through the organization? He'll get a chance to prove he can at Las Vegas. But I don't think he'll even get a cuppa' with the big club this year.Later
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 I predict he's going to look exactly exactly like his old man in 32 years.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 Nothing Metly in 2017.(there's gotta be stuff growing in that beard)
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 (edited) Will make it to Las Vegas and get discussed as a replacement for a hurt Mets starter if it happens. Edited March 7, 2017 by Guest
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Heard somewhere he's in for knee surgery, so any Flexin Action won't be for a while.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 19, 2017 Author Posted July 19, 2017 Flexie won the front end of a doubleheader for the Young Rumblers today, and is looking like the next rotation hopeful with a 6-1 / 1.66 line for Binghamton. I think he'd already be in Vegas by now, plugging their leaky rotation, but the suits want to keep the Ponies together for a playoff run.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 Well here's one guy we all underestimated. I remember he was a tough sign as a high school kid with college leverage, and we waited a bit with the requisite injuries and all.14th rounder from same draft that produced Met Supastars like Cecchini, Plawecki, Reynolds and Sewald. Hasn't had a bad time of getting guys out yet.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 And like magic Flexen is the Mets SP today.
