Joining Jenrry Mejia and possibly Jeurys Familia on the Not Allowed to Play List this season will be Mets minor leaguer Gary Cornish, a 2016 draft pick who threw 25 innings of relief for Brooklyn this season, effective to the tune of a 2.16 ERA. Gary draws a 50-game suspension after testing positive for amphetamines.

He appears to have still been on the Brooklyn Roster, which suggests he was suspended as a Cyclone, and therefore won't begin serving his sentence until the beginning of Brooklyn's season.

Does adderall count as an amphetamine? I don't think too many people use amphetamines recreationally anymore like Johnny Cash or anything, but kids today do love thier adderall.

Regardless, these kids are professionals. Don't put illegal shit in your body, dummy.

it does. and last I heard, the percentage of baseball players on it is twice that of the normal population.

Which suggests that it is being abused.

And the downside there, is that a ballplayer who really needs those meds will suffer in their non-baseball life because of it. I don't know that there is a solution, but the poor kids shouldn't have to make a choice.

Baseball allows for therapeutic exceptions on adderall, I think. Am I wrong?

yes, sorry that's what I meant. It's an amphetamine, and more than twice the expected average applied and got exemption.

Yes, it seems that MLB players apparently suffer from ADHD (or similar afflictions) at rates far above our already over-medicated population as a whole and therefore "require" special exemptions for these otherwise banned drugs.
It's like medical marijuana in a sense, saying it'll be restricted only to those who need it is a tricky standard to maintain.
