Underworld - Blood Wars is the fifth in the Underworld series about the battle between Vampires and Lycans (werewolves) that has been raging for centuries. This one is about Seline trying to protect a coven from the united, stronger Lycan clan. She is also trying to find Michael, the father of her daughter who is a direct descendant of Alexander Corvenus, the first true immortal and "the father of us all".
If you haven't seen or read about the past movies, you will find out information you should know in two ways. Before the credits, you hear a brief narrative from Seline to set the scene. Then, when additional background is needed, if a vampire tastes the blood of another vampire, they can read his thoughts and learn addition information (also presented as clips from the past movies). Clever way to fill in the blanks, eh?
