Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 (edited) I was on an assignment today at Washtenaw Community College and saw this framed Tim Redding Mets jersey hanging in a corridor with jerseys of several Tigers and, I think, Dimitri Young. The college staff was surprised and confused by my level of excitement. Then I found this online, which is the photo at the bottom of the framed jersey: "A 2007 Chevrolet 4X4 truck build for former Major League pitcher Tim Redding. This project was built by the CCC program so Mr. Redding could used it as his main hunting truck." Edited September 15, 2016 by Guest
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 2008, the Bishop Museum in Honolulu. It's a museum of Hawaiian history and culture, but there's a little section there called "The Hawaii Sports Hall of Fame." It was nice, while so far from home and in a prestigious museum, to see old friend Sid Fernandez:
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 I'm re-reading Kings' The Dark Tower series (again!) and the Mets come up a few times. Sometimes it's from a New York fans perspective (Eddie Dean) and another time it's from a Boston fans perspective (John Cullum). The story involves time travel. The Boston fan was from 1977 and he wanted to know from Eddie if Boston had won it all yet (Dean being from 1987). Cullum had an autographed ball collection of Boston players, the prize being one signed by the Babe when he was still with the BoSox.Cullum's eyes gleamed."Tell me something, son. Have the Red Sox won it all yet? Have they ever won the series? At least up to your time?"Eddie's grin faded and he looked at the old man seriously. "I'll tell you if you really want to know, John. But do ya?"John considered, puffing his pipe. Then he said, "I s'pose not. Knowin'd spoil it.""I'll tell you one thing," Eddie said cheerfully, "You don't want to die before 1986. That's gonna be a corker."
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 I saw the Mets last year in a place that I didn't expect: the playoffs.Hiyo!Let's Go Mets!
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 This is weird.Yes, that framed color photo of the Mets looks nice above that sofa, but what really catches my eye is the tiger. If I had a tiger living in my house I'd have much greater concerns than wall hangings.EDIT: I'm sorry... I think I posted this in the wrong thread. I thought it was the "Tigers in places you don't expect" thread. My bad!
Guest sharpie Guests Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Mr. Met is likely on the couch in the Your Hunt for the Best Tigers Photos Is Over ad.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 Must've been a sample ad for Detroit and some idiot MLB executive ordered it for every team.
Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 That tiger is just chillin' on the couch, like every other cat. Just give him some catnip or one of the neighbor kids to play with.
