G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 My eldest cat chose the Tiger series to take extra ill. Go figure. Better yet, go beat those cats, Logan Verrett, and let my cat (in the kitty hospital after seizures on top of other maladies) and his favorite team get better at the expense of Matt Boyd.Roar, you Mets.[youtube:3aeoy5p9]CevxZvSJLk8[/youtube:3aeoy5p9]
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Best wishes to Hozzie. Our cats were extremely feisty overnight, fighting, meowing, beating up the water dish more than usual, waking up Wifey, who wakes up me. I think they must know their species is gonna take a hit.
Guest cooby Guests Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Aw, GF I hope he/she is okay! Our kitty Rusty (the one with nasal problems) has been struggling to breathe the past couple of days. I feel so bad for him. But yeah, if our kitties are all aligning...
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Matt Boyd and Logan Verret.I kinda thought Niese would be in the rotation.Anyway, beat the catcrap out of this guy.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 I was thinking that if Verrett gets to where he's starting to get into even a little bit of trouble that you have the quick hook ready and bring in Niese, using those two as kind of like tandem starters (3-4 innings each if all goes well) so as not to give the Tigger lineup a crack at either of them more than twice. This Matt Boyd guy is a 25 y/o former 6th round pick by the Blue Jays (2013 out of Oregon State - so he would have been a Conforto teammate) who was sent to Detroit at last season's trade deadline in one of the seemingly annual David Price deals.Splitting time this year between the big club and AAA Toledo, he has 10 ML starts to his name so far this season [4.71 ERA, 1.27 WHIP]He's also a lefty which kind of suxx in that I don't think we have any active and healthy RHBs left on our roster (though I may be forgetting one or two).

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2016 Author Posted August 6, 2016 Curtis Granderson - CFTy Kelly - LFNeil Walker - 2BJay Bruce - RFWilmer Flores - 1BTravis d'Arnaud - CKelly Johnson - 3BRene Rivera - DHMatt Reynolds - SSLogan Verrett - RHPTy Cobb? Wait until Detroit gets a load of Ty Kelly!ROAR!
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2016 Author Posted August 6, 2016 Holy spit, Rene Rivera is DH'ing. Excellent protest of an antithetical rule on Terry's part.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Starting Ty Kelly and Rene Rivera is on Sandy and his lack of effort, interest, money, trading chips... whatever. Juan Uribe was DFA'd the other day--how much would it take to have him on the team rather than Kelly? Rivera is a fine backup catcher and I know that there have been a zillion injuries but there has to be someone available who is better qualified to DH.Psyched for another mediocre but not terrible effort (6 IP, 3 ER) by Logan "he sort of kept the Mets in the game" Verrett.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Watch that jive-ass lineup go out and put up eight runs.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Gary Apple's HR call: "My friends, you can say goodbye."
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Keith commenting on a fan in a Ron Darling jersey. Got to be MGiM.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Nope. Doesn't look like him, from behind, anyway.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Verrett's been walking on eggshells since the first batter and I'd have had Niese warming up like four times already in this game and would bring him in at the sight of the first LHB - but by then it might be too late.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 I hate when two Martinezes score on one hit.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 What color is the sky in the world where your team gets hits with runners in scoring position?
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 It's not Logan Verett's fault. He's not a major league pitcher. He should be in AAA or in the Mets bullpen as the long guy. Injuries and Sandy's lackadaisical attitude have put Verrett in a place he shouldn't be: starting a major league game.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 I"m not into going to Niese mid-inning.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 I like when Neil Walker draws a walk.I just wish we had a dude named Neil Tripler.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 I like how they don't waste any of their HRs on those runners-on situations but instead save them all for solo work.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Wilmer's getting more out of hitting the ball softly tonight than other guys are getting out of their rips.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 This has got to be the only team in the history of baseball that reduces its chances of scoring by getting guys on base.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 The've had about four doorways back into this game opened up, but won't walk through.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Any day now a clutch hit would be super good. C'mon dudes.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Gary Apple: "Walker's been one of the hottest hitters in baseball since the All Star Break."Yeah, but it's, like, a dry heat.
