LH Steven Matz (8-7, 3.35 ERA) vs. RH Chad Green (1-2, 4.56)

i'm hoping Terry doesn't bat Bruce 3rd again. He doesn't make enough contact for that slot. I'd rather he went with something like this:

deAza - cf
Walker - 2b
Loney - 1b
Bruce - Rf
Flores - 3b
Conforto - Lf
d'Arnaud - C
Reynolds - SS

Really should get Granderson in there.

but it'll be Cespedes 3rd - DH probably.

i forgot we're playing in Yankme stadium (a.k.a, Nuremberg). Yes, Yo-anus will probably DH. And i guess it makes sense to put Grandy in, given the short porch in right. But i'd still rather they played DeAza (which says all that need be said about Granderson's hitting this year).

deAza/granderson - cf
Walker - 2b
Cespedes - DH
Bruce - Rf
Loney - 1B
Flores - 3b
Conforto - Lf
d'Arnaud - C
Reynolds - SS

Chad Green: 25 y/o, 11th round pick out of U of Louisville by the Tigers in 2013, dealt to the Yanx for LHP Justin Wilson this past winter. 7 ML appearances to date: 4 relief / 3 starts.
Has been near perfect as a reliever [9 innings, 6 hits, 0 runs] but his starts have been pretty fugly: 14 runs on 14 hits including 7 HRs, almost all of that coming in two of the three starts vs ARZ (6 runs in 4 IP) and CLE (7 runs in 4.1 IP)

I'm predicting a Bruce two-fer.

And here's the Hillerich-and-Bradsby-with-a-Tophat Guys

  1. Jacoby Ellsbury (L), cf
  2. Rob Refsnyder ®, rf
  3. Mark Teixeira (S), 1b
  4. Chase Headley (S), 3b
  5. Starlin Castro ®, 2b
  6. Didi Gregorius (L), ss
  7. Austin Romine ®,c
  8. Gary Sanchez ®, dh
  9. Aaron Hicks (S), lf

    Chad Green ®, sp

You know, any other team in this situation would be looking to get at-bats for Rodriguez.

I mean, he's stinking it up, but no more than Teixeira, for one. Chase Headley is a defense-first guy, and has been for most of his Yankee tenure. Most other teams, limping along, dealing off their assets at the deadline, would get an all-time great with huge numbers a chance to hit his milestones, draw some crowds, create some highlight reel footage. I mean, their alternative designated hitter is batting eighth, for cripe's sake. I mean, the Mets got on board for carrying Gary Sheffield to his 500th homer.*

But this not a typical player-team relationship.

* Granted, Sheffield 2009 outplayed Rodriguez 2016 coming and going.

Lets see Amed Rosario at SS for the good guys. A cup of coffee may help.

Cabrera is about twenty pounds overweight and aint coming back. So what to lose?

When I first saw that yesterday I was like WTF? We have a number of people more suited for that spot (even tho I think everyone is striking out a lot).

I just sat down. I hear we have had 3 hits in a row including a Granderson

What a freakin' disaster.
This Yanx pitcher retires just 4 of the first 12 batters he faces but we manage to score only thrice. Then Matz gives it all back and then some, most of 'em with two outs.
That Yanqui 2nd also pointed out the limited range of Flores at SS. Not that either of the two plays he missed were 'should have' plays but a superior SS maybe makes one or both and some of those runs never get a chance to happen.

So you can lose faith in him this year if he doesn't set the world on fire instead of waiting until next spring to declare him a bust?

3 mound visits for the MFY pitching coach in 4 innings, all for the same pitcher.
Hey Rob Manfred, ya looking for ways to speed the game up?

oe: and now a fourth to remove him.
Under my rules you get one 'free' visit, not per inning but per pitcher or maybe even per game. Every visit after that and you gotta make a change.

Brutal strikeouts there.

Five ABs w/bases loaded (two with none out) and they haven't got a ball out of the infield yet. 1 GiDP, 1 GO, and 3 Ks (2 by Conforto).
What a fucking disaster of a game.

I keep tuning in at the wrong time. They're not following the August script.
Side note, pretty crappy looking infield grass-wise for the mecca-of-all-things
baseball past, present and future.

I guess that's the soccer they're playing on that field - but maybe they just need the money.
Remember when the Yanx, both players and front office, routinely complained about the condition of the Shea infield, like it was beneath their dignity and possibly a hazard to their health just to play on it?

Anyone catch Teixeira mouthing to throw the broken bat at him with that

This is kinda a new low 2016, so much for can-do.
