Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Adam Wainwright, who's been hot, faces Logan Verrett, who's been good enough. MLB.com's preview notes that Wainwright pitched successfully against the Mets once in 2006.

Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2016 Author Posted July 27, 2016 Nats playing not two miles from where I'm sitting right now. Was thinking of going, but life got in the way.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 This is a Big Game again falling to Verrett, and we really need to bats to support him. That is all.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Yeah, and as much as a more dynamic offense might have dug the Mets out of Game One yesterday, the most dynamic player they have is out of the lineup.I'm trying to tell myself that any minute now, one of d'Arnaud, Flores, Lagares, or Conforto is going to wake up just a little bit more matured, and turn the game into his plaything. All of them, actually, I'm hoping.

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 He's got 817 PA against righties and over 100 this year.Maybe he'll hit them eventually, but the Mets should assume he won't and have someone ready to go if Reyes can't.

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Verrett has a smooth enough 1st. Walked a Bird, stranded at 1st. 0-0 Mets
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Ahhh, tsk tsk. Cabrera gaps one but is thrown out at second. Like Keith said, it took a perfect throw from Piscotty.Be nice if Cabby went on a lil hot streak, balance out that RISP BS.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 In the 2nd: Loney, lead off double. Walker, RBI single. Flores, single.1st & 2nd, 0 out.1-0 Mets
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 How much longer are we going to be subjected to the mediocre-at-best Logan Verrett? He's a AAAA pitcher, not a starter on a winning major league team.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Shit. What happened? I stepped off.Oh, that Wainwright lead off walk. That's when I stepped off. I had a bad feeling about that walk. And Holliday does his job. Two early walks in this game is concerning enough, but the lead off walk to the pitcher was a big red flag to me.Logan has a smooth 4th.

And, I don't know what the other option is until Wheeler gets back.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 3-1 Cards after 5. I'm yawning over here. Wake me the fuck up Mets.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Nice to see that Wainwright curve miss.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Damn. I thought Wilmer got enough of that.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Leadoff dude on.That's supposed to help, right?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Cool by De Aza, but we'd have a run home if d'Arnaud was running there.Shouldn't he have been running?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 one of these guys will get a hit
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Just not Grandy.Wainwright seems to be grinding. Good pitch followed by bad pitch.
